You bidding on a recently restored 1974 Dodge Challenger. it was born with a 318. but the previous owner installed a 383 in it.   He says that both the motor and transmission had been rebuilt at some point. I replaced a valve cover gasket and it was super clean inside. Trans has a little shift kit in it. He had the car for nearly 25 years. The car still has all of its original sheet-metal. I was told it had only minor rust in the typical places: bottom of fenders. behind rear wheels. etc. The floors are in great shape with no rust or previous repairs. Same goes for the frame rails. The car was stripped to bare metal and then the rust was cut out and new metal installed. When he bought the car it was painted maroon and the engine compartment was black. He wanted to take it back to the original rally red color it was born with. The paint is Dupont basecoat-clearcoat.   it was painted last year. I consider the paint to be very nice. but it is not perfect. I consider the car to a very good "driver" kind of car. the vinyl to top is new too. The bumpers were re-chromed. new weather-stripping. nbsp;trunk moldings. etc.  Most of the interior appears to be original. I would say the front seats have had new covers and it has new carpet. The dash pad is excellent with no cracks.   The headliner is okay and looks original. It has power steering and power disc brakes.   The Freon has been removed from the a/c system. but it has not been converted yet. The a/c system seems complete. but does not work. the motor has had a recent service and tune-up. new carb. alternator. belts and hoses.   It has Hooker headers and dual exhaust. It is a positraction 8 3/4 rear and feels like 323 gears. The car runs and drives very well. The speedometer does not work. it might be unplugged at the dash or the cable is broken. It shows 39k miles. I would guess it is 139k miles. One of the side marker lights needs a new socket. The left side turn signals work sometimes and sometimes stay on solid.   I would guess it has a loose ground. I have some new clips for the vinyl top molding as it is loose on a couple. It is still an old car you can have lots of fun with. but will require some tinkering and sorting. You can reach me at 540-336-3357. I live in Winchester VA. about an hour west of Washington DC along interstate 81.   I encourage you to come look at the car. I am trying to list all the good and bad. I think it is a great entry level E-body for the money!
