Here is quite the respectable U. S. specification 246 GTS offered publicly for the first time in over 30 years. Verified by Marcel Massini's records. the car was originally finished by Ferrari in a Blu Chiaro Metallizzato (106-A-38) over Rosso Scuro (VM 893) livery - equipped with power windows. air conditioning and removable top. The Dino Register records 05814 exchanging hands in the late-1970's with recent rebuild by Motorkraft of Bensenville. IL. Thereafter. the Ferrari has remained un-displayed in private single ownership.
Fresh from a recent mechanical rebuild. 05814 has never seen a complete restoration but has definitely benefited from careful ownership. Older Russo paintwork and original leather seating display a striking patina. Body panels and gaps are very smooth and consistent. Equally impressive. the GTS retains all of its original parts and body numbers today. The factory body number stampings "2169" are found throughout. including both rear trunk hinges. both door jamb kick plates and on the expansion tank mounting tab.
The motor starts easily with no hesitation and no smoking. and performs very well in city conditions. Driving the Dino leaves a great impression; acceleration is very strong and handling has a tight feel - All electrical components are in working order. including the lights. signals. wipers. instruments. clock. power antenna and PW windows.
Accompanying the 246 is the original 1973 instructional booklet. spare. tool roll (partial) and keys. 05814 is a great turn-key example to thoroughly enjoy as-is or casually take to the next level. Dino's have developed into highly sought-after investments that continue to increase in collectability; here is an honest U. S. GTS available from careful longtime ownership.
