1974 Volkswagen Thing

I am selling my VW Thing.   I have taken very good care of this car.   I knew the former owner and I purchased from him because he took immaculate care of it. and I continued this.   This car has been maintained as well as any car could be maintained.   Because of its historical value. many additions that we added were done in such a way as to not affect its integrity no holes or screws. etc. which was one of the main reasons why I purchased it.    

 Interior Highlights

The interior is in excellent condition as can be seen in the pictures.   The interior features very sharp new black vinyl high back beetle seats. they are in excellent shape and are very comfortable.  It has a very nice top that is in great condition with crystal clear like new side plastic removable windows. the rear window is a bit foggy and could use some work.   The entire interior is in great shape including the instrument panel. dash. and all interior hardware.   The dash includes the following gauges. speedometer. gas gauge. tach. and clock. all of which work.   The vehicle also has a new Radio.  The lights. horns. wipers. and heater are all in working order.   The interior floor has been sanded. treated with POR 15. and painted with new carpet installed.   A temporary glove box door has been added. as well as a LED lights. oil pressure gauge. 12 Voltage meter. etc.    The storage area is neat. and very clean and solid.  

Exterior Highlights

 The exterior of the car is stunning with the top on or off.   The Thing is finished in Cocoon green pearl paint that is really sharp. nbsp;the paint has an excellent shine with some minor touch up's.   The fenders have been rust proofed with a simple Plasti-dip that can be removed in seconds.   The removable black top really sets the vehicle off or take it off for a different look and feel completely.   The body on this vehicle is excellent. the body fit is about as good as it gets.   The doors on the Thing open and close with ease.   The vehicle has new tires mounted on the very popular 15" four lug BRM wheels (originals not reproduction) again. rust proofed with Plasti-dip that can be removed in seconds.   The car is fitted with very sharp fog lights.   The rear tail lights and front fog lights are new.  This Thing has awesome curb appeal and gets attention everywhere it goes.  

Mechanical Highlights

Mechanically this is a turn-key purchase.   This vehicle has been maintained by a mechanic who specializes in air-cooled / VW Engines and owns a few himself.    The vehicle is equipped with a 1903 CC air cooled 4 Cylinder engine.   The engine is fitted with dual baby weber carbs. new 12 volt alternator. electronic distributor. new plugs. wires. cap. Ignition coil. belt and rotor. Optima Red Top Battery. (\w/ 2nd battery included. bolted Valve Cover. Aluminum Oil Breather Kit. new heaters hoses.

This Thing has had oil changes at every 100 – 200 miles always with a Zink along with a very strong rare earth magnet and the system has been thoroughly cleaned.  The valves have just been fine-tuned and adjusted to perfection.   The vehicle has a remote oil cooler with an electric cooling fan.   Past owner also added an inline fan that sucks in air from air ducts secured with 2 strong magnets.   The transmission and clutch work fine.   The transmission had a recent fluid changes and shifts with no slipping out of gear and has a new Scat T handle floor shifter.  

The front end has an adjustable beam with air shocks. and the rear has new standard shocks.   The vehicle has 4-wheel disc brakes. 4 speed transmission that runs and shifts smoothly.   The engine compartment is in show condition that's fully lit with a hidden LED light.   This car starts. runs. drives. and stops as it is supposed to.   The undercarriage on the vehicle is very solid and has 100% been treated with POR 15. The floor pan under the battery was replaced and looks great.
