DATSUN 260Z SILVER

Hi up for sale is my Datsun 260Z Coupe.

This is a 1971  2 seater model. It has undergone a bare metal body restoration. as you can see on the picture. no rot was found anywhere. so it is a good solid car.

I then had the car painted in the new Kawasaki green and all the chrome done in satin black.

The engine bay as you can see is still in silver. this is because I wanted to get car to the Z stand at Donnington Park (back in May 13). which we did (as in pics). my intention was to lift out the engine this winter and do the paint work in the engine bay. the reason this has been put in doubt is because the owner of the unit I store my Datsun in is giving it up at the end of September and I cannot find anywhere to store it safely and do any work.

The guy I purchased the Datsun from had played with the engine for use on the track. It is pretty rapid. I don't know to what extent but I know he did a racing cam. triple delauto carbs. oil cooler. electronic fuel pump and head work.

The paint work is very good only a few months old. he only thing to say is it was never given a good buffing to finish. so there will be the odd mark but you will have to look very closely but as I say with a buff it will be perfect.

I stuck with the original lattice alloys and just did them satin black. I was looking for some wolf race slot mags to put on. the alloys on the car do have new tyres fitted the interior has 2 high back two tone leather seats fitted in black and green with no tears or marks. these also were new when I restored the car. the carpets could do with renewing as they are quite thin but don't have any holes and are quite useable. the right rear interior panel is missing from inside the hatch. only needs to be a flat panel covered in black vinyl. so easily made I just haven't got round to doing it.

I have just cleaned. and driven it to various shows in which it gets lots of attention as there is not very many Datsun 240-260Z left especially in this condition. get ready for people standing at the side of it and having their picture taken with it!!!!. /p>

It also has a very nice sound as you drive along. people turn to look what's coming. kids haven't got a clue what it is and are always very interested.

I have just fitted a new clutch master cylinder and brake master cylinder as the seals went on the way home from a show last month. There are no original parts but this is not a standard car. so shouldn't really matter.

My Datsun has MOT until may 14 and has no advisories. and TAX until Oct 13 so can be driven away. on my drive today it was spluttering and back firing for around 5 mins but then cleared. it doesn't get driven that much and the carbs will be getting blocked up but once driven they do clear.

I love this car and I am not looking forward to it going. it took me years to find a solid one and then put my own mark on it. my Datsun was never done with the intention of selling. otherwise it would be finished in silver as original. it has wide samari rear wings. these are steel not cheap fibre glass clad on's and flared  arches believe me a lot of time and money has gone into this. more than I care to mention. someone is going to be very happy at a fraction of what it cost me. I am very approachable and viewing is also welcome. but can only do evenings due to work. it is locked in a big unit which is very well lit. I am open to sensible offers 'try me you never know!'. I won't be offended. everyone likes a bargain. all I ask is try to be sensible. the car will need to be collected with payment in cash before the end of this month. please do not mess me around. do not bid if you do not want it. genuine buyers only. try to come and view as bidding is final. what you bid is what you pay.

I am listing my Datsun with no reserve so I am taking a huge risk. but I believe it will do ok in the end. I will never get the money back that I have put into this car but if someone can enjoy it and take care of it then it makes it worthwhile doing the work.
