1983 AM General DJ-5M JEEP, 2WD AUTOMATIC

You are looking at a 1983 AM General DJ-5 M which is right side drive and only has 48. 95 miles.

While resembling the CJ series. these were built as a completely enclosed. rear-wheel drive

vehicle. with sliding doors (which could be opened while driving). and a swinging rear door. Most models only had the driver's seat and a mail tray where the second seat would normally be located.

This jeep is extremely fun to drive and a true attention grabber. The decision to sell her comes with great difficulty. I do not expect to get back what I put into her but due to time restraints. I will settle for the starting bid. I recently moved to a city and having a vehicle just isn't practical at this point in time.

She just passed a PA state inspection in late April and runs really well and is fully legal. The only major issue I am aware of is she needs time to warm up. If you hadn't driven her in a week she will need about 10 minutes but if you drove her hours ago. she will only need around 5 minutes or less. Without this. she will stall.

There is very little rust on the body of this vehicle but the bumpers could use a little work.

She goes 50 mph comfortably and 60 mph somewhat comfortably but anything faster then that may be a little bumpy. She rattlles a bit which could be fixed with lubrication and tightening of bolts. She also comes with a in depth. 400+ page manual with full diagrams which would allow you to build this vehicle from parts alone. If you enjoy modifacations. this is your girl.

This jeep is ideal for someone who is looking to learn about cars or some one who already knows vehicles because she can practically be taken apart with a ratchet set alone. I do not think there are too many cars on the road that are easier to work on. Even though she is almost 30 years old. parts are extremely easy to find since she uses mostly all generic parts still being built today. Within the past 3 years I spent around $7000 on her but she is still not in perfect condition. Many of the parts are original and there is no telling how long they will last so all sales are final.
