This is my 1972 Citroen DS 20 Special. which I have owned for three years. The car was imported in 1993 by a local friend. who only used the car for a short time and then layed it up in his garage. On purchase. I have sorted out any gremlins which included a new coil and condensor. as well as new rear spheres and a hydraulic fluid change which restored the wondeful smooth ride. The car now starts and runs very well. It is a good Condition-2 car. and although not concourse attracts plenty of attention at car shows. It also has the added bonus of the correct Citroen towbar and electrics. and all the locks and windows work well. It is very usable. but as usual there are one or two jobs I have not got round to which would improve the car. The most obvious of these is that the stitching on the rear seat has failed. However. included with the car is a roll of the correct material to re-cover it with. Also. the grey trim on the sills has been removed at some point. easily available and of course enables easier inspection of the large box section sills. The car has just breezed through the mot again. but has no tax disc (which of course is free anyway). as it is declared SORN at the moment. I am on holiday from the school where I work at the moment. so it would be best to come and take a look at the car yourself if you are a serious buyer. This is a great first DS. being one of the simplest of the model. It has a normal manual gearchange. and only the suspension and brakes are hydraulic. very easy to maintain. The shell or tub as some call it is rock solid and has no rust at all. I have added waxoyl to the vital rear suspension mounts area. probably the most crucial area to check upon purchase of one of these wonderful iconic works of art.
