Current customer rating:
Up for auction is this 1940 Buick Special.
It belonged to an older gentleman who health has gotten bad so he could no longer drive or tinker with it.
It has been sitting in his shop for the past few years.
This car has very little rust if any and very few dings.
It has a 72 model buick engine. trans. sub frame with disk brakes. and rear differential in it.
It has dolphin gauges and an underdash air unit installed.
It has a tilt column out of what appears to be a chevy full size van with cruise and tilt on it. The factory wiring on the body has been connected to the 72 buick engine wiring harness.
The windows go up and down and appear to be the orignal glass.
Now for the imperfections.
The paint is ok but not show quality.
The rearend is 1 1/2 to 2 inches to far forward.
It is set up on a four link system so it will be very easy to move back.
The underdash air is not wired up.
There are alot of wires run that are not in looms and are not cleanly run. The interior is complete but needs to be reupholstered.
It looks like someone redid it years ago but it was not a very good job.
It is my opinion that with some time work and probably somewhere between a 1000 and 2000 investment this would be a very nice car.
I have decided to offer this car in its current condition before I do the work and spend the money to finish it.
If it brings enough. so be it.
If it doesnt. Ill take the time to make it nice and try again.
If you have any questions. want any more pictures. etc. feel free to
I have added the underside photos to show the subframe and rearend setup along with what little rust I can find on the car.
I have to say. this is the most solid body on an old car that I have seen in a long time.
Yesterday. I cleaned the tank. sanded the points. poured some gas in the carb and started the engine.
It runs great. We drove it down the road. It shifts great.
Brakes work but the master cylinder is bypassing.
I took a video of us starting it the first time and one of it backing out of the shop.
