1972 GMC Jimmy

THIS 1972 GMC JIMMY WAS BOUGHT NEW BY THE RENO FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR THE FIRE CHIEF. THIS JIMMY SPENT MOST OF ITS LIFE IN DRY STORAGE FOR YEARS IN RENO NEVADA. THIS JIMMY IS MOSTLY STOCK AND IS EQUIPPED WITH. LOWER MOLDING PACKAGE. FRONT POWER DISC BRAKES. POWER STEERING. FRONT LOCKING HUBS. TINTED GLASS. 350 MOTOR. 4 SPEED TRANS AND AIR CONDITIONING. THIS IS A DRY AND CLEAN JIMMY WITH A CLEAN BODY.  

THE BODY / PAINT - The body on this Jimmy is in overall good condition with factory floor pan that are solid along with the kick panels they are also solid and are not showing any signs of rust or surface rust through the paint. You will not need to patch or replace the floor pans or kick panels in this Jimmy. The fire wall is in great condition and has not been cut up or beat on. The original paint on the fire wall is in great condition also there are no rusty spots on the driver's side or passenger side in the upper corners of the fire wall and the factory chalk marks are still intact. The quarter panels are original to the Jimmy and are in great condition they are not full of body filler and they have not been crashed in to they look straight when looking down the sides they are not wavy or beat up.  Both the doors are clean and solid with no signs of rust bubbles they look good. Both the front fenders are in good condition and are not beat up or cut on or rusting out they are clean fenders. I have checked the passenger side fender down low in line with the battery and  it shows no signs of rust same with the driver's side. The passenger side inner fender wells also shows no signs of rust same with the driver's side. The radiator support is also original and shows no signs of rust and will not need to be replaced.  The original inner and outer rocker panels are not rusted out or full of body filler and will not need to be cut off or replaced they look good. The windshield pillars and upper windshield area both outside and inside are rust free and are in good condition. Behind the inner windshield rubber across the top is also dry and still shows its paint at the pinch weld this area is not rusted out. The top of the metal dash down by the windshields rubber is in good condition and is not rusty or water stained. The original hood hinges are in good condition and are not sprung and the hood is in good condition. The removal hard top and hatch is in good condition and is not split or cracked.  Over all the body on this Jimmy is in good condition with only a few small dings here and there. The paint on this Jimmy is an old repaint of the original color and it is showing its age but is a good driver quality paint job with small nicks and chips throughout. The bottom side of this truck is not rusty or full of under coating it is apparent underneath this truck that it was not used for off roading.

 THE INTERIOR- The inside of this Jimmy is in great condition and the two front seats are original to the Jimmy and they look great. The original back seat to the Jimmy is the same it's in great condition. The carpet looks good and is holding up well also the threshold moldings are in good condition. The dash pad is also in good condition. The sun visors are in good condition they look great. The dash bezel is also in good condition and the gauges are all in good working order along with the dash lights. The original steering wheel is in good condition. The door panels are in good condition. The inside of the white removable top is super clean. The factory radio is in working condition. The heater switches are intact and are not broken and the heater is in good working order. There are no added speakers or speaker holes in this Jimmy and the factory under dash speaker is still intact. Over all the inside of this Jimmy is clean and mostly original looking and the inside of this Jimmy is impressive. The door rubbers and some of the hard top rubbers are newer and in good condition. The rest of the rubbers and felts are original and are intact.

THE MOTOR- The motor is a stock 350 that is a good running motor with good power and it has all of its factory accessories but the motor is old and rattles on initial startup after it has been parked for some time. After it worms up it sounds better. this motor is not a leaker or a smoker but is getting tired and you should plan on a freshen up at some point. We take this Jimmy on short trips around our area and it does fine for that.

THE TRANS/TRANSFER CASE - The 4 speed stock trans shifts good and is in good working order and is not a leaker and the clutch is older but is in good working order. The stock 205 transfer case does not leak and the 4x4 is in good working order. The original rear end is a nice tight rear end that does not clunk or howl.  The hubs lock and unlock nicely also when you drop this Jimmy in to gear there is no universal joint clunks or noises.

 THE ELECTRICAL/AC- All the electrical in this Blazer is original and is in good working order it has not been cut in to or tampered with. The air-condition is all intact but will need to be charged.

 THE OVER ALL- This survivor style Jimmy is a super clean driver that was well taken care of and was not beat on or abused. The front end steers straight on both high and low speeds while on the road. The original style rally rims are in good condition along with the rings and center caps. The BF Goodrich tires have good tread and are not weather checked but are older. This Jimmy is equipped with the stock springs and this Jimmy rides nice and the power steering is in good working order. The glass is not cracked and is in good original condition. The front and rear bumpers are straight and clean and the rest of the outer bright work is also super clean. The disc brake master cylinder and the booster are original and they work fine. The exhaust is older and at some point you may want to change it out. The bottom side of this Jimmy is not full of under coating from the factory and it is clear to see that it is not a rotted out mess and the factory chalk marks are still intact on the frame. This is a dry Jimmy that did not see much moisture when you look at the back side of the rear view mirror. the sifter. the blinker arms. the inner and outer door handles and the other bright work there is no pitting or rusting.
