I'm Relisting the my GTX once more before the end of the season. I have also lowered my reserve. I drove it another 1000 miles to the Mopar Nationals in Columbus. Ohio a couple weeks ago. where it performed flawlessly. The trip up there in heavy rain was tolerable due to the A/C keeping the windows from fogging up. The rare Rubber Bumpers draw a lot of attention. I cleaned it back up after the trip and decided to relist it again while it was cleaned. I may drive it to the Music City Mopar show in Lebanon. Tennessee at the end of September.

I had some questions last time it was listed.  that I will try to make clear: This is not an original Hemi car. It came with a 440 with a single. four barrel carburator. (U code) I have the original. numbers matching engine block with the VIN stamped on it that will go with the car. It is a bare engine block with main caps. needing a . 040" overbore. This engine block has been included with the car each time it changed hands. I did remove a good complete 440 engine to install the hemi. I disassembled this engine and smeared grease to preserve it. This engine's availability will only be determined upon sale of car.

Cruise in the fast lane while enjoying the comfort of the A/C and the music playing. over the sweet sound of the Hemi rumble. This is the "old car" that your "significant other" will love to ride in. with it's quiet but non-restrictive exhaust. and interior encapsulated with Dynamat sound absorber. to the premium yellow gold upholstery. sure makes it a comfortable ride.

This vehicle is a true GTX "U" code starting life with a 440 and console automatic. it now has a Moper Performance 426/465HP Hemi. and Tremec TKO-500 5 speed manual transmission and a new Dana rear. The car had 69. 00 miles when acquired in '98. and now is showing 86. 00. There were 2211 GTX's made this year and 71 were this Tawny GY9 Tawny Gold Metallic. The Rare Rubber Bumpers were on the car when it was acquired but not original. I also added the fully functioning Air Grabber hood. Non-smoker owned since '98 and no evidence prior to that.

My recent plans for the car was to pull the Hemi and use it for another project I am building. I was going to put the original numbers matching 440 block back in the GTX and sell it at a later date as funds were needed for my project. The 5 speed and Dana would remain in the GTX. as the original trans and rear were never there. Anyway. I thought that I would go ahead and try and sell the car with the Hemi. as it is already such a nice installation.

The Hemi has 10. 00 miles and is nearing 10 years old. I recently replaced the valve seals as they were causing a little smoke during high vacuum between shifts and de-acceleration.  My machine shop buddy also touched up the valve faces while we had them apart.  The transmission and Dana rear came later and are 8-9 years old.  The engine fires right up and idles nice. it is rather tame for a Hemi. making good vacuum for the brakes and great traffic manners. The best Dyno run was 384 HP to the rear wheels. I have driven this vehicle to the Mopar Nationals many times and have made a number of long trips. I have installed an Electronic Cruise control. where I set the pace for our caravan. I will average 19. 2 mpg along much of the route to Columbus. with the 5 speed. the Mighty Demon carburator. nd the vacuum advance distributor all dialed in.

The paint is 30 year old Laquer that is still showing well. I have been able to touch it up over the years with a single stage paint that I finally got to match. I had the air Grabber hood for a number of years. and waited to get the best paint match before installing it. I did replace the rear section of the rocker panels due to rust a number of years ago. There is a double walled section between the rear corner of the door to the rear wheel well that traps debris and is prone to rust on all of these Mopars. There is one door dink on driver side that you is not very noticeable. and evidence of some bondo in lower rear corners of the doors. otherwise. I would have probably tried to do something about it. The original vinyl top is in place with a few small lumps at the bottom trim moulding that would suggest rust growing. It has been there many years and is just not enough for required action right now. The car stays in the dry. so yes it will eventually need paint. but it could be 5 or more years away. I have won many trophies with this car just as it is. and I'm talking Best of Show. and Best Mopar numerous times. I pulled out a number of the larger trophies for one of the pictures. there is about 20 more of the smaller ones.

Mopar Performance 426 cu. in Hemi engine-9:1 compression. 278 degree cam . 495"/. 480" lift 465 HP/ 486 ft/lbs Torque. complete with MP Distributor wires. Mighty Demon carburator. MSD 6A Ignition module. MP Lightweight Starter. Reproduction cast exhaust manifolds with Jet-Hot's STERLING coating. I recently sent them back to be recoated while I was doing the valve job. and they honored their Lifetime Warranty. nbsp;recoated them and paid the shipping back. I cannot commend them enough for doing this after 10 years. Schumacher spool type motor mounts were used on original K-frame

The exhaust system is 2. 5" mandrell bent tubes. a Dr. Gas X- pipe. Stainless Dynomax Mufflers. and Dynomax Bullet mufflers as Resonators in the rear. exiting through the cool "machine gun" exhaust tips. I have some pictures of a sound level test with a decibel meter. and should pass even a California noise ordinance test.

Edelbrock Quiet Flo electric fuel pump -10 decibels quieter than others on the market. Only heard when starting engine. I paid a premium for this quieter design and well satisfied.

ClassicAutoAir A/C perfect fit series air conditioning with compressor mounted low on the left side of engine below alternator. with optional Bouchillon mounting bracket. This necessitated removing the mechanical fuel pump.

Tremec TKO-500 5 speed transmission. kit supplied by Keisler Engineering. with brand new aluminum bellhousing. McLeod clutch. and flywheel. Reverse light switch located on dash panel. Reproduction Hurst Pistol Grip with the 5-speed bezel.

Dana 60 rear axle. 3:54 gears. built by DTS. with 35 spline Strange axles. and the premium Powerloc Limited slip. rated for 950 HP. This new unit was upgraded to 11" Disc Brakes with Parking brake option and SS Brake lines. Factory Pinion Snubber

Front disc brakes upgraded to the 11-3/4" Cordoba rotors for greater stopping power. All new bearings. seals. nbsp;hoses. hardware. and SS brake tubing. Master Power Brakes Stainless steel 8 inch dual diapragm brake booster and matching dual master cylinder with proper disc brake combination valve and Wilwood Proportioning valve at rear.

The GTX already came with heavy duty suspension. but I upgraded to Polygraphite bushings in the front suspension and sway bar. the next size . 960 torsion bars. and Edelbrock Inertia Active shock absorbers. All new ball joints and steering components replaced. Idler arm. tie rods. and tie rod ends.

The rear suspension received new Mopar Performance Hemi Leaf Springs with 6 full leaves on left. and 5 full leaves and 2 half leaves on the right. New shackles. bushings and KYB shocks were also installed in rear. Factory 3/4" rear swaybar.

Power steering gearbox rebuilt by Steer-&-Gear to Firm Feel Stage II specs for a much less over-assisted feel.

New 15"x7" Ralley wheels by Wheel Vintiques. with Goodyear Eagle GT II's Raise White Letter tires Front:P235/70R15- Rear:P275/60R15

The dash pad is excellent. The dash panel has been restored. ll the guages work. notice that I installed mini aftermarket guages in the radio slot. The mini guages and Tachometer are from Autometer. The car did not have A/C so the vents are under-dash mounted and color coodinated to match the dash. as well as the radio enclosure. The radio is a Kenwood KDC-2019 AM/FM/CD with a wireless remote. There are Jensen Triax 9" inch 3-way speakers in the rear package tray and 5-1/4" Pioneer 3-way mounted under the dash at downward angles.

The cruise control switch is hidden under the console next to the shifter boot and is pulled out when desired. The control module is located on inner fenderwell next to battery. It is a GlobalCruise Universal (Rostra. com)

The Air Grabber switch is located above the hood release pull. and cannot be seen in the pictures. it is a Norgren 5-way pnuematic valve and not the factory type. Air Grabber door can be operated many times after engine shut off and is leak free after weeks or months.

I installed New Legendary upholstery 2 years ago. and sold the original covers. as they were still in usable condition. a testament to the care the car has received over the years.  The carpet had been replaced by a previous owner. I also installed the custom floor mats. The inner panels and headliner are excellent. Dynamat Sound Absorber mat is applied completely through the floorboards and behind back seat and side panels. Every small sliver of floor is covered.

Tuff steering wheel. with Road Runner Beep- Beep Purple horn under hood.

NOS windshield wiper motor. 3 speed
