1984 Volvo 242 GLT Turbo Coupe Original White

You are probably viewing the nicest original Volvo 242 Turbo Coupe in this country.

These cars were quite rare to begin with and are becoming more difficult to find in this pristine. low mileage and rust-free condition.

This particular Volvo is a GLT (Grand Luxe Touring) from 1984. the last year of Volvo's 242 Coupe production.

Like all good cars. this one has a story.

It was purchased new by a school teacher at the local Volvo dealership in Phoenix. Arizona.

She always kept it garaged and serviced by the dealer.

When she decided to sell. she contacted the original sales representative.

He was so impressed with the car that he bought it on the spot and drove it for several years before selling it.

The next buyer was an Arizona resident who bought the car and sold it two months later - hardly driven in between.

The owner prior to me bought this car in Phoenix and drove it to his home in Columbia. South Carolina.

Six-years later. I bought the car and drove it from Columbia to Gulfport. Mississippi.

The car is insured. licensed and comes with a clear Mississippi Title.

It looks better up close than in the photos.

It's obvious to even a casual observer that it has received meticulous care over the years it has been garaged. babied. and properly serviced since new.

The car is unmolested and completely original. to include the glossy paint. fifteen-inch Virgo wheels. floor mats. and mud flaps.

The tires are new Michelin Harmonys with less than 1. 00-miles on them.

Some of the special equipment on board includes factory intercooler. cruise control. remote controlled mirrors. power windows. central locking system. power brakes. power steering. and air conditioning.

The only known issues are age related cracks on top of the rear seat and one crack in the dash.

Years of service records. and the original radio will accompany the sale.

The previous owner told me that on the Arizona to South Carolina trip the car averaged in the mid-20 miles per gallon.

When I drove from SC to MS. my mileage was in the low 20 s to high teens - most likely due to my frequent use of the turbo.

I'm told by Volvo Turbo aficionados that if the boost (vacuum) gauge is kept in the low range. the car performs the same as a naturally aspirated fuel-injected non-turbo. and will give similar fuel economy.

If you are looking for an average 240 series Volvo this is NOT your car.
