1980 Rover SD1 V8-S for sale

This time listed with no reserve. one bid could win it.

The  V8-S is probably the rarest and most sought after version of the Rover SD1. as it was only in production from 1979 to 1980. There are now very few left.

This car is well know within the SD1 owners club. It was displayed on the club stand at the NEC Classic Motor Show in 2010 and 2011.

It has also been featured in Practical Classics magazine.

I have owned this car since March 2008. prior to that it had been standing in the previous owners garage since 1994. The car was restored between 2008 and 2010. with a full photographic record.

New front inner and outer wings

Replacement front panel

New rear lamp panel

Full nearside rear quarter

New rear offside outer wing

Part replacement of nearside sill

Full respray in the original colour (Persian Aqua)

Struts shot blasted

New wheel bearings

New nearside front calliper

Recon offside calliper

Both track control arms replaced

New track rod ends

All bushes replaced

New flexible brake hoses

 

Rear suspension-

 

New trailing arms

New watts linkage

New brake pipes

New brake cylinders

All bushes replaced

New handbrake cable

New brake flexible hose

Axle casing cleaned and painted

New diff oil

New self levelling suspension units

New camshaft. tappets. timing gear and chain

Carbs rebuilt

All hoses replaced

Headlining recovered

 

Although this car is one of the best SD1s available. there a couple of minor points I should mention. Firstly. there is a slight weep from the gearbox rear seal. It has never been a problem and has not been mentioned as an advisory on the MOT.

Although the air con system is complete. I have never recommisioned it as it would require some updating for modern coolant.
