EXTERIOR
This original Astra GTE is finished in Vauxhall Glacier White (code 10L) and boasts a brilliant bright shine all over. The vehicle is structurally excellent and there is no rust on the car whatsoever. There are no dents or dings to the bodywork. and the paint is in flawless condition aside from some very minor stone chips to the leading edge of the bonnet and a minor scuff to the lower offside corner of the front bumper. The nearside headlamp inner reflective chrome has flaked resulting in some light discolouration. Upon raising the bonnet you are greeted with a truly exceptional engine bay. being standard and correct in every manner aside from a period alarm system. and with all manufacturer identity and data plates present. Meticulous attention to originality in this iconic performance hatchback from Vauxhall.

INTERIOR
The interior of this example is truly incredible. Trimmed in Laser cloth trim with matching door cards. the standard specification for the GTE. The seats and door cards are beautifully clean and have retained all shape and integrity. commensurate with the remarkably low mileage covered. although there is a small hole in the cloth to each door card. The steering wheel and gear knob are perfect and retain the factory veins in the finish. A small section to the upper bolster on the driver's seat has worn slightly thin. but has not holed or frayed. The dashboard and incorporated switchgear is perfect and fully functional. including the factory fitted Phillips security coded stereo cassette player (model DC670). Further GTE specific equipment extends to the fantastic Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) instrument cluster and additional separate 7-function check control panel. both of which perform exactly as the manufacturer intended. The colour keyed carpet has been protected by Vauxhall tailored over mats from new. A wonderfully preserved and period classic Vauxhall interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1998cc eight valve four cylinder SOHC engine is renowned for its lively nature and robust reliability. Producing 122. 3BHP and maximum torque output of 127. 6 lb. ft. the 8V was a truly strong contender in the ultra-competitive 1980's hot hatch era. This factory standard example performs impeccably and produces an exciting rasp from the manufacturer stock exhaust system. A top speed of 127mph is achieved whilst 0-62 is dealt with in an impressive 8. 7 seconds. The 5 speed manual gearbox with final drive ratio of 3:55:1 feels positively tight and allows spirited progression up the range.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
The white alloy road wheels fitted as standard to all Glacier White GTE cars are in remarkable condition. The beautiful and delightfully period wheels are shod in quality 185/65/R14 tyres which have excellent tread all round. The braking system incorporates 10. 1in ventilated front discs and 7. 9in rear drums offering ample stopping power under even the most enthusiastic use.

HISTORY FILE
This outstanding two owner vehicle was registered new on 28th September 1988 by Vauxhall Main Dealer Concord Motor Services in Stansted. Essex. and their original tax disc holder is proudly displayed in the screen. Supplied to original owner Mr C Baker who cherished the vehicle throughout his ownership until September 2008. Benefitting from full Vauxhall service history under Mr Baker's ownership. the service book has a host of regular main dealer stamps with the latest being in 2007. Ownership was subsequently transferred to Mr A Bolsterstone in September 2008 who treasured the vehicle having always wanted one as a young man! The huge history file is truly incredible with all supporting main dealer invoices and MOT certificates. leaving no question as to the genuine low mileage. All original handbooks. radio guides and manufacturer point of sale literature is present in the pristine plastic wallet.
