1970 Ford Mustang Sportsroof (Fastback) Unfinished Pro Touring Project

This auction is for my 1970 mustang 302 sportsroof (fastback) unfinished project (Pro Touring Style).

I bought it off ebay USA late 2006 & with the shipping & customs it was about £6 k. I have the original american title & the customs paid but not rejestered with DVLA.

I'm selling the car due to a change in direction in life (emigration) & don't want the hassel of shipping & import duties to another country.

With the purchase of the car & the list of parts bought listed further below I have at least £30 k invested in this project so there is a reserve on it.

Work done .

Striped to a shell then shot blasted with grit on underside. engine bay & inside floors then with garnet on the roof & body . then sprayed in ascid etch primmer.

X 2 new floor pans. r/h sill. r/h rear quarter panel. the 2 ends of the rear tail light panel (welded from the inside). seat platforms welded in & sealed. The frame for the new rear suspension. subframe connectors (notched to miss floor pan) welded in.

While still on the rottissere the whole underside had 2 k primmer (5 ltrs) then matt black (2 ltrs) then stonechip (4. 5 ltrs) & finaly underseal (4. 5 ltrs).

Sent to a body shop to be filled & primmed on the body & painted black inside & the engine bay . 11 months & £1500. 00 later I got it back (a few bits that in the cold light of day I'd redo).

Bought parts while the car was in the body shop.

Fitted the 10 point rollcage 1 5/8 ths tube (after having a new main hoop made 1 ½'' tube that bent in at the bootom as the original touched the b pillar so would be hard to weld all the way round & not to good at spreading the load onto the base plates) this has the xtra sill tubes welded into the 4 main base plates & an xtra 1 ½ '' tube welded in as a rear brace between the rear wheel arches. The dash bar is notched ready but have not fitted it yet. lower dash smothed out & bolted in. I have a pair of swing-out door bar kits but have not fitted them.

I got the Bimarco race seats new off ebay for £500 the pair & then with the car back found that they would't fit on the original seat platforms (touching the roof) so had to cut them out & make some new base plates & seat brackets out of 5 mm thick plate. as you'll see in the pic's 1 seat has damage to the left ear & a modifiction to the bottom left corner to miss the sill tubes. the other seat is still new in the box.

I had the Fab 9 rear axle (powdercoated black) . Strange Pro Iron diff (with Detroit Locker 3. 70:1 gears). Strange 35 spline shafts & Wilwood 4 pot disc brakes all put together buy Frank Griffin (Outlaw Anglia Drag Racer & car builder) then fitted to car . will need adjusting/setting up to be mm perfect.

I have a new Dodge Viper 6 speed T 56 manual gearbox (has the Viper logo embosed on it) that goes with the car which to buy in the states cost $3000 before shipping.

I sold all the metal body panels & original 4 speed when I striped the car. I have all fiberglass panels except for the bonnet (as I didn't know where the turbo's or what kind of inlet manifold would be used were going to sit in the engine bay until I'd had a race motor built) & a rear valence as there are 2 kinds (a) with exhaust cutouts & (b) with no cutouts for the exhaust & as I hadn't got as far as working out the route of the exhaust I was going to leave it till the end.

I still have the original 302 2 v V 8 engine. rear windscreen. steering wheel & colum. metal front & rear bumpers. dash insert with dials.

1. I work shifts (night & days) 4 on 4 off

2. The parts are in a storage unit that I can only get to in week days so you'll have to let me get it all out the day before you collect
