1978 Ferrari 308 GTS (Like the Magnum PI car)

If you were born before 1960. chances are that you are old enough to know what a Ferrari 308 GTS is and may have even had a poster on your wall of a 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS.   The 308 was the big game changer for Ferrari and many consider it one of the most iconic Ferrari designs.   The 1978 model came as a carbureted car which for collectors seems to be more desirable then the later fuel injected model.   The 3 liter 4 cam Weber-carbureted V-8 provided impressive power and a soundtrack all the way to 7. 00 rpm.   The 308 GTS were built for only three years and just under 3. 19 were made.   It is important to note that in 1980 the 308 GTS was changed to a fuel injected and lost 26 horsepower and never had that roaring sound that you loved to hear from a Ferrari.

If you are old enough to remember the TV Show Magnum. PI. he drove Ferrari 308s in many episodes.

For those that are not familiar with this fabulous Ferrari. the engine is a 3 liter V8. manual 5-speed with four Weber carburetors.   A mid-engine car where the engine is located behind the driver which provides for fantastic handling as the oversteer and understeer are practically neutral.   These 3 liter V8 Ferrari have been climbing up the charts very rapidly in value for the last few years and there is no telling how high they will go in the immediate future. but certainly in the long range they are destined to be worth a lot more than what they are today.

Today. the V-8 Ferrari market continues to grow as enthusiasts and collectors recognize the open-topped carbureted 308 GTS as the most desirable and collectible of all Ferrari V8s.   

If you are looking to have a car that has been iconic since the first day that it was shown at the Paris Motor Show and you want to feel like Magnum. PI who drove one of these cars in most of the episodes of the TV show (NOTE: this is not an actual car from Magnum.
