Mercedes-Benz engineers the letters 'AMG' taken from their
names Aufecht. Melcher and Großaspach. In 1990. with AMG having
become a high-profile purveyor of modified Mercedes-Benz cars. br/>Daimler-Benz AG and AMG signed a contract of co-operation allowing
AMG to leverage Daimler-Benz's extensive dealer network and leading
to commonly developed vehicles (the first one being the
Mercedes-Benz C 36 AMG. in 1993). On 1 January 1999. Daimler Chrysler
acquired 51 percent of AMG shares and AMG was renamed to
Mercedes-AMG.
In 1995. the C-Class received its first genuine performance
model. the C 36 AMG. to counter the new six-cylinder BMW M 3.
Developed with AMG. it had racing-tuned suspension and the 3. 6
litre engine had a general output of 276 bhp AMG later conceded that
since the engine was hand modified power outputs could vary
slightly from 276 bhp to 287 bhp. The C 36 AMG accelerates from
0-60 mph in 5. 8 seconds and top speed was electronically limited to
155 mph - an unlimited top speed was recorded at 169 mph and only a
total of 5200 C 36 AMGs were ever produced.
This well presented C 36 in metallic pearl green with carbon trim
and black leather is described as a fantastically well maintained
original car with a service history and many Mo Ttest certificates
to support its credentials. With unmarked AMG alloy wheels and
working climate control coupled with a fresh 12 month Mo T test
certificate. why opt for the run of the mill motorway cruncher when
you could have one of Germany's Autobahn chargers beneath your
feet?
