1939 Cadillac Other

Here we have for sale a 1939 Cadillac V 16 Sedan Convertible which started out life as a series 75 V 8 Sedan Convertible.

It has to be said that whoever converted this vehicle has done it well. the vehicle being period correct in every detail. I can only assume that a V 16 limousine or the like was used to harvest all the parts used to create this lovely old automobile. as only 4 V 16 sedan convertibles were built in 1939 (in fact total production of the second series v 16 sedan convertible is just 19 cars. 13 in 1938. 4 in 1939. and 2 in 1940. As all you Cadillac afficionados will know series 75 and 90 from 1938-40 used the same 141 inch wheelbase chassis.

As can be seen in the photos this old girl needs a bit of TLC although she is super solid and purrs like a kitten. The work is purely cosmetic as she could do with a paint job in less lurid colours. Likewise the interior is showing a little wear but is complete and nice. As I said before all the period details are correct on this car for a 1939 model sedan convertible. from the dash to the fender spears. tail lights to trunk handle it has been really well done by a previous owner. and ofcourse that lovely V 16 engine and transmission/running gear. She truely is every bit a series 90 only with a series 75 identification number.

The convertible top is in good condition only requiring a good clean. All doors open as they should and the B post extentions are easy to remove when putting the top down.

Underneath she is really sound with just a clean required. Brakes work although they should be inspected as this car has been in storage since 2005. Suspension operates as it should.

Engine runs well and transmission shifts well. Not much more to say really

For the person looking for a late thirties series ninety convertible then this probably and realistically is as about as close as you´ll get as they are just not out there for sale. I´d hazard a guess that even the experts would find it difficult to distinguish between this and an original series 90 sedan convertible
