I've swapped in some new pics to show that the car was taken down to the metal. the header panel was removed. the doors. the trunk lid and the roof trim removed as well. Notice that the car was arrow straight before paint and did not need much of anything before shooting it. This sort of paint job does not come cheap.
This auction is for my beloved 1986 Buick Regal T-Type. turbocharged 3. 8L (1 of 1. 21 ever produced) How many do you think are left today? How many with limited options? How many with the rare ASC roof? Remember when you could buy cheap muscle cars? Look at the prices today. Now is your chance to own a piece of history; a legendary car that still instills fear on the street and is destined to climb in value as the years progress. This car is priced to sell. It's not a project. fixer upper or a rust bucket that will nickel and dime you to death. Is it perfect? No. Most aren't. However. it is a spectacular specimen of a legendary 30 year old street fighter. Don't miss your chance.
For those who do not know. this is the same exact car as the Grand National. The 1986 and 87 model T-Type. Turbo T. WE4 and GN are all essentially the same cars with the same engines and transmissions- the same horsepower and the same torque). The variations are in options (such as wheels. trim. exterior and interior color options. etc. ) Do not be fooled into thinking that the 1987 GN is the only turbo Buick to own because it's faster or some other such nonsense. Both the 86 and 87cars are intercooled and just as fast as the other.
Former SoCal car located in KY (in a carpeted garage)
Clean title in my name. clean Carfax. I am 3rd owner.
Exterior: Black with blackout trim (WO2) and chrome bumpers (car was taken to the metal and repainted a few years ago ( 2 Stage base and clear coat and also color sanded- looks like a mirror~!~) and since then it has rarely been out- Maybe 200 miles in the past few years). weatherstrip is original with a small imperfection above driver's door. New rubber gaskets under all 3 door/trunk locks. all of the rubber door bumpers are present. Also has rare ASC sunroof (in good working condition) as well as power antenna (also in good working condition). no window tint. rear defrost option. proper hood ornament. Over $300 in NOS OEM GM emblems (not pictured. none have been affixed but. all are present and correct). Also has staydown license plate holder.
If you're set on having a GN you could always paint the bumpers black and swap the grille for an 87 unit (just don't tell me. I think it would ruin the unique appeal of the car)
Interior: Grey Buckets and floor shift with new OEM Grey shifter handle (very clean. seats still have firm foam. carpet shows light wear in footwell but is still very nice). tilt steering wheel. NOS grey door pulls. Stock radio (non csII). New Boston Acoustics 3. 5" dash speakers and New Alpine 6x9 rear deck speakers. Ice cold A/C (R34 conversion). fresh headliner. new embroidered OE style front floor mats. OEM jack. handle. mounting pieces/assembly. tire. and factory cardboard space filler all in place. black OE style trunk mat. good dash pad and cover; steering wheel has cover on it- nothing wrong with wheel. I merely prefer a thicker wheel.
This car is a rare Factory Lightweight. (no power windows. seat. locks. or cruise; aluminum front and rear bumper supports. aluminum drums. lightweight aluminum RJC Crank pulley- I added that)
Engine: Stock. number's matching 109 block. Ported and polished 8445 heads with new springs and valve job. port matched intake manifold. 50lb msd injectors. matched TT chip. Kirban OEM style plug wires. new AC Delco plugs. brand new Walbro fuel pump with hotwire kit. stock turbo. ported inlet bell. ported exhaust elbow. tock I/C. new front and rear main seals. new oil pan seal. lightly ported front cover. new Double roller timing chain with billet cam button. new front cover gasket. new valve cover gaskets. new fuel rail pressure gauge. new black accufab adjustable fuel pressure regulator. 160* t-stat and billet t-stat housing. new cam position sensor. new crank sensor. newer battery. new OEM metal heater control valve. Correct 9-hole hood pad
Suspension: new Bilstein rear shocks. new MOOG springs in the rear. new front rotors. bearings and pads. vacuum brake conversion
Transmission: original stock- no shift kit. fresh fluid and filter 200 miles ago. G80 Posi rear
Tires and Wheels: Currently on 8" WELD Prostars. used 275 DR's and new 225/15's up front. Also comes with a set of four (4) OEM Eagle GT (Raised white letter as per RPO) tires in good condition (for shows). very nice and tight feeling ride.
Exhaust: stock style replacement with stock position muffler. cat still in place (no guts). new NOS cat hanger. exhaust tips are not correct OEM slash cut but rather. terminate just before rear tires (sounds very good. no drone)
Car is 98% stock appearing save for the afpr. fuel rail gauge. vacuum conversion and exhaust. Stock front air dams are affixed to the car but not pictured.
Essentially. everything that a new turbo regal owner should do to a newly acquired car has already been done. All of the boring basics have been handled. The platform is set if you simply want to do some weekend cruising or if you want to add some alcohol injection. turn up the boost and race. It's ready to go.
Issues: There seems to be a small oil leak from the rear of a valve cover or intake manifold that runs down the back of the block. I've hunted for it but not found it. (I rarely drive the car so it's not been a priority). The rear fillers have cracked on the passenger side; they still look ok but will need replaced if you want it perfect. In the passenger side rear of the decklid there is some touch up. A rake scratched the paint and I applied the touch up- You can hardly see it but I see it and it still bugs me. Finally. the left rear quarter has a ding about the size of a penny where I accidentally backed into an engine stand. The clear coat is chipped off this spot. The ding should be cheap and easy for a paint less dent removal company to handle.
AS a car guy and honest seller. I have tried to make sure I have mentioned everything I can recall about the car- good and not so good. The good is very good and the not so good stuff is little things that are easily corrected and not a major ordeal.
This is a turn-key deal. Just get in. drive and enjoy.
Extra items included: GM Archive docs. GM Invoice docs. Repro window sticker with the Original Dealers info. owners manual and related docs. build sheet. a set of four (4) correct Original 15" Goodyear Eagle GT's (raised white letter) tires. Additionally. the original t-type rims will be included in this sale. (Please note that the ttype rims do not have tires mounted to them) Thus. they are included. but the Weld rims and tires that are on the car now are what is available. If you don't like them. you can always sell them off later as Welds are always in demand.
Terms: This legendary classic is sold AS IS/ WHERE IS with no warranty expressed or implied. Please note that I have this car listed for sale locally and reserve the right to end this auction early should someone appear and show me the money.
Please ask any questions you may have BEFORE you bid. I am happy to answer any and all questions and provide more pics if necessary.
