1968 AMC Ambassador SST For Sale in Spartanburg. South Carolina. 29307

This is a pretty rare car loaded with equipment and in well preserved condition. This was AMC's top of the line full size car for '68. If you want something different. here it is.

Nicely equipped with the SST package. 343 V 8. automatic transmission. cold working factory air conditioning has been converted to R 134. power steering. tilt steering wheel. fully reclining seats. pushbutton AM radio works. with rear speaker and bumper guards.

Seller is the third owner. and it was in the same family in the previous years.

The odometer reads 80. xx miles but the seller cannot prove the mileage. However. there is little doubt in the seller's mind about whether the mileage is correct. This is a nice survivor all the way around.

Body and paint - The car is solid as can be.

It appears to the seller that the car had one nice. good quality repaint many years ago. but the car appears to be entirely original cosmetically everywhere else. Looks like the jambs still have original paint. The paint has nice depth and shine and looks great. There are a few marks on the paint here and there. but overall very good. The paint on the roof appears to be original. Overall. it looks very good and a car to be proud of.

Interior - The completely original interior with the bright pattern in the material and the RECLINING SEATS! Lift up AC vent in the dash in front of the driver. Dash is nice. door panels. headliner. etc all good. The original carpet is even in nice shape. The seat has a spot down low where the piping has come apart and the garnish moldings on the lower seat are cracked (they all do this when equipped with the reclining seats from what the seller have seen). Shoulder belts that hook into the front seat belts were added at some point before my purchase. Chrome - All very nice and bright.

RECENT REPAIRS MADE: rebuilt carburetor. changed the tires. muffler. radiator and heater hoses. belts. thermostat. water pump. fuel pump. rebuilt the heater control valve. flushed the cooling system. installed a new (not rebuilt) AC compressor and serviced the AC. new transmission pan gasket. three new brake hoses. wheel cylinders (master cylinder appeared to have been recently replaced before I got the car). tune up. and four shocks as well as some other smaller items. The car runs and drives very nicely with cold air conditioning. Radio. heater. horn. steering. etc. all work nicely. The directional switch was replaced.

Bottom line is hop in and enjoy. its ready to drive in my opinion short trips or long!
