Up for sale is this nice survivor 1967 Volvo Amazon 122s 4-door sedan. I am a Volvo collector and this is one of two 122's that I own (the other is a '67 122 wagon). I am selling this one to make room in my garage for another Volvo classic car that I recently acquired.
This fine running 122 won several prominent car shows back in the 1980's under previous ownership and has the trophies to prove it (they come with the car):
Judges Special Award: 1984 Volvo National MeetFirst Place: 1985 Volvo Sports America National Meet (Harpers Ferry. West Va. )First place/ Concours (120 series) 1987. National Volvo Owners Meet- Volvo Club of America
In the 1990's the car was put into long term storage and rarely driven. It was finally taken out of storage in 2016 after the death of the original owner. It was refurbished. made road-worthy and has been driven since as a weekend car. I get lots of smiles at my local Cars & Coffee.
The following work has been done in the past 300 miles:
New batteryNew mechanical OE fuel pumpSU Carbs removed and cleanedNew OE Volvo rubber floor covering both front and rearTune up/oil changereplaced distributorNew OEM stock Camshaft. lifters and steel timing gearhead gasket replacementFour new Doral 15 inch radial tiresrebuilt master brake cylindernew rubber Volvo trunk matnew dual emergency brake cables
During the long storage the car acquired some rust caused from moisture. As a result the frame/floor undernesath reveals areas of previous rust repair. My mechanic says it is structurally solid. safe and road worthy and the next owner can simply leave it as-is or do a more comprehensive cosmetic repair later (see photos). Also. both front fenders have what looks like the measles. small dots where the paint has lifted. You can only see this if you are up close and it was difficult to show in photos. There is one area above the passenger side rear wheel well under the trunk mat where there is a small 2 x 2 area of rust through (see photo). The paint is otherwise very nice overall. you can also see some minor paint cracks on the drivers rear top panel near the trunk.
The interior is all original and immaculate. Nice headliner. seats. door panels and door pockets. It appears the dash cover was replaced earlier and appears like-new. All glass is excellent and windows go up and down as they should. The speedo was replaced recently and operates accurately. The odometer is not working and shows 51. 00 miles. The best guess from the previous owners records is about 158. 00 Actual Miles. The clear Virginia title states 158. 00 actual miles.
The heat works great. The temperature gauge occassionally does not work and I believe it's a frayed wire near the thermostat. Fuel gauge is operable and accurate. The original Bendix-Volvo am-fm radio lights up but is not sending sound to the front and rear speakers. It was working last year so I suspect a wiring issue.
The bumpers appear to have been previously re-chromed and now have a few small spots of pitting. Photo's show two different wheel caps. please note that the car is being sold with the 4 original wheel covers with standard black inserts (see photos).
The famous Volvo B18 workhorse engine starts right up (choke) and idles smoothly. The clutch works fine and the 4-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly (there is no overdrive). The brakes just had the master cylinder rebuilt and brakes bled this month. There is a brake booster in the car but it was disconnected by a prior owner. It means the brakes need a little harder foot pressure but it stops reliably with not a lot of effort.
While no longer a concous/show quality car. this is an honest. great looking. mechanically sorted driver that will fit right in at your next local car show. I would be confident driving this car cross-country but would really recommend trailering/shipping if over 500 miles. Local inspections encouraged with an appointment. The car is located about 2 hours drive southwest of Washington D. C. I will answer any email inquiries promptly to the extent of my somewhat limited mechanical knowledge. Thanks for looking.
* Seller is also privately selling a very rare restored 1959 Volvo 445 Duett panel wagon. Info on the Hemmings website.

Hi there,
Im very interested in this 122, but I am out of state (in california). I'd be more than happy to take care of shipping the car in the event that I buy it, though. Due to the fact that I'm out of state, I'm curious if you'd consider doing a video call to check out the car, or even a phone call to ask some questions if a video call wouldn't be practical for you. Let me know either way by text 760-473-0592 or email at [email protected] (initial phone calls from unknown numbers unfortunately tend to be auto-blocked by my phone, but text or email would work perfectly)
Thank you so much for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,
Brandon Browning
