1966 Sunbeam Tiger
TAC Certified. Factory Hard Top

We have available a Tiger of America Club certified 1966 Sunbeam Tiger. It has retained its original body. VIN tag and JAL number. The VIN is B382001502LRXFE and JAL is 661527. This is the real deal. one of less than 7. 00 Tigers ever made. If you are not familiar with Tigers. these were produced straight from the Sunbeam factory fitted with a Ford V-8 and top loader four speed. These were one of the sweetest driving sports cars of the 60's. The production of the car was curtailed when Chrysler bought Rootes Group which included Sunbeam. Chrysler could not fit their own V-8 into the engine bay and was understandably reluctant to sell Ford powered cars in their showroom. so they dropped the Tiger model in early 1967. Though originally in very minor tune. the American V-8 gave these Sunbeams great power to weight specs and spectacular performance along with mechanical reliability. It was a practical Shelby Cobra and even had roll up windows and a factory optional metal hardtop available. This particular car has lived in the rust free climates of California. Texas. Oregon. and Washington for its entire life. As such no worries about rust or botched rust repairs. This Tiger has had a full and recent mechanical rebuild including all drive train and suspension. The interior is restored to original materials and patterns. and the top is new and well fitted. The dash is refinished in a stunning burled walnut as original. The rebuilt uprated 289 starts easily and runs very strong. The car has undergone hours of detail sorting by the last two collector owners and will idle well yet deliver great acceleration. The gear box shifts smoothly. and the acceleration is exhilarating. The original car was color code 39 and shows it was a red car from the factory. The body is very solid and shows no signs of major prior damage. The paint is glossy and is a nice driver level finish with only minor chips. A removable factory metal hardtop comes with the car. is painted to match. and has a new black headliner. The wheels are a new set of five Panasports fitted with full tread 195/60-14 tires. This is a chance to acquire a true factory British hotrod with the important proper club certification. The collector world is just starting to notice these cars and rightly so. I believe they soon will be properly valued above Austin Healeys and closer to their performance equivalent Jaguar E-types.
