Over the years I've noticed that the extremely detailed classic cars have always commanded a higher price. Even people who don't have any classic car experience can recognize and appreciate attention to detail. Currently the overall market is on the raise once again. Certain classic cars are on the rise and others are on the decline. Typically. the classic cars that are on the rise are the cars that a lot of people don't own. In other words. there are classic cars that haven't saturated the market. The cars that are at every car show and auction and page on the Internet for sale are the ones that aren't changing in value or are slowly on the decline. Of course. if the car is spectacular it will command a higher price as I mentioned. It's all about supply and demand. not a good or bad economy. Custom cars have remained strong because each car is different from the next one. They each have their own character.
“I'm putting my money where my mouth is”
I'm just a 36 year old blue collar guy who was working full time selling new and used Mercedes Benz.
I was selling my classic cars and trucks part time.
Although I had my used car dealers license I didn't have a facility that was open to the public.
Overall things were going just fine.
However. my dream was to open my own classic car and truck dealership.
I decided to give up my full time job with health insurance and a 401 K to open a new classic and truck dealership.
I had to invest a ton of money to make that happen and now have a lot more overhead.
Do you think I would've done all that if I didn't think the classic car and truck market wasn't going to remain strong? I consign anywhere from three to eight cars at each Barrett Jackson auto auction at no reserve because I know there's always going to be bidders for classic cars and trucks.
