I am selling my 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40. The difference between the BJ and the FJ is the "B" was Toyota's designation for the Diesel motor. I imported this gem from Central America because I desperately wanted a diesel and Toyota never imported their diesels into the US. I took it upon myself to find one and have it shipped to Miami and trucked to New York. I ran it through all of the import. customs. New York DMV registration process so it is a fully legal. registered and licensed U. S. vehicle and one of only a handful in the U. S. I spent a tremendous amount of time. effort and money getting this car to its current state. You'll make friends everywhere you drive it. Included in the list of upgrades and maintenance is:
-Upgraded the front brakes from drum to disc brakes. New brake fluid $450
-Purchased and installed original front bucket seats and seat brackets (CR trucks all came with 60/40 bench seats upfront). $400 Brackets & Sliders $200
-Purchased. powder-coated. and installed original roll bar (not supplied in CR. only shipped on US trucks). $500
-Purchased and powder coated grille. $175
-Note: all seats and roll bar secured with heavy grade 8 fasteners: $150
-Stripped entire inside of truck and had it all coated with Line-X (including underside of fuel tank. etc. ) $1000
-Purchased and installed new front (HFS) and rear (OEM) bumpers with new hardware. $400
-Purchased and installed new seat belts. $200
-Purchased and installed new shift boots for both shifter and transfer case). $150
-New oil. transmission and trans trans-axle fluids throughout. New air. oil and fuel filters. $150
-Purchased and installed new suspension system with greasable shackles (all Old Man Emu components. 2. 5" lift kit). $2000
-Powder coated original wheels matte black. Installed new tires on truck $200 + $1000

Thanks for looking.   DM
-Had starter motor freshly rebuilt to new Nippondenso specs with all new components (incredibly tough to do and quite expensive). $500
-New Battery and new glow plugs (glow plugs are very tough to source as well. and run about $35/per if you can find them). $250
-Many new stainless fasteners used throughout truck. $300
-Stainless door & hood hinges $250
-New speakers and speaker box fabricated and mounted
-New gaskets between the hard-top and the truck. with new mounting hardware. $100
-New inside front door panel(s). $225
-New fuel tank filler hose. $30
- Bikini Top included

It is a very unique truck with tons of great. new components. All work above was done since August of 2012. Most importantly. the motor is amazingly reliable. There is nothing that keeps this thing from going. It is a great little truck! I am heartbroken to sell it.
