1965 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

One of the rarest of the micro buses is the 21-Window Walk-Through. The standard configuration provided a front bench seat. but this offering has the more sought-after walk-through concept. which is fitted with two separate front seats so the passenger can walk to the back of the bus.

This Deluxe Samba model has loads of expensive and hard-to-restore trim items. such as full-length “deco” strips of alloy with rubber inserts. model correct bumpers and 21 windows! This is a real 21-window microbus. original configuration. not created from another style.

This bus has only had three owners and is an original Delaware County. Pennsylvania vehicle. It was in heated storage for over 20 years. A complete. high-quality restoration took place in 2010 (not a frame-off). Since that time. it has been used only for parades and car shows. turning heads and earning several first place trophies.

During the restoration the body was stripped and bead blasted and then professionally painted. It was restored to stock specifications. The bus features a fresh 1600 cc engine and an original stock matching interior and headliner. Middle belly pan. as noted previously above. is missing. Side belly pans are freshly painted and in excellent condition. Rails. jack points and sheet metal floor solid all around.

Amazingly. this bus has kept all it's trim and original accessories since new (bright work. jail bars. grab handles on middle seat. kick plates. etc. ). License plate numbers are photo-edited out for privacy.

Pennsylvania inspection valid until September. 2017 New chrome safari windows 12-volt electrical system up-grade. except for gas gauge. radio and clock. Gas gauge. radio and clock can be reconditioned and up-graded to operate on 12 v. There are several vendors in Hemmings magazine that offer the service. As is. they are not functional without the up-grade.
