Seller's notes: Completely restored ten years ago, this rare Panther Lima MK1 (1978)is in excellent condition for a car that is nearly 40 years old. It recently had some welding on the chassis for the MOT but, in all other aspects it is mechanically, as well as structurally, sound.

I have owned this Panther Lima for 10 years. It was fully restored by its previous owner who clearly spent thousands on it. I have used it only for summer motoring -never in the rain! It has completed only 35000 miles. a good history with long evidence of bills & old MOT certs. This is not a kit car-despite its body being fibreglass- No rust! Panther cars were made in 1970 s by the West-Winds Car company in Surrey. Most Limas went to the USA/Europe only a few hundred left here in the UK. although quite rare spares are easily available. The running gear is based on the 1970 s Vauxhall Magnum. a huge. over powered unit for this car. it does move a bit! This car is easy to work on and I have managed to do 90% of all the necessary maintenance. Two excellent Panther Owners Clubs provide advice and a good spares service. The clubs are also very active in a social way with several regional meetings. Insurance on this classic car was surprisingly low!

Negative points: There are tiny bits of rust on one or two bits of chrome. eg luggage rack. The hood is OK but will need replacing in a few years. if you use it. I have never have. If you are over 6 feet tall you will find getting in & out a tight squeeze. If you are under 5 feet 6 inches you will find reaching the peddles hard.

Recent work. Front break callipers replaced. Seats re-upholstered. new carpets from previous owner. new battery. Taxed until January 2014. Mot June 2014.

I'm passing this car on because we now have another classic car and as my boys have left home it just sits in the garage. I recommend looking at the other models on the Panther Owners Club website to get a wider appreciation of their history and value.

This could be a bargain buy for someone but. there is a reserve price I am advertising it elsewhere. so I reserve the right to withdraw if my reserve price is not met on Ebay or I sell it elsewhere.

Payment. A successful bid must be confirmed via a 'phone call and the buyer will be given the postal address to send a 5% deposit ( cheque) in the post within three days of the end of the auction. The balance will be paid in cash (or banker's draft) when the car is collected
