1972 BMW 1602 1600-2 2002 E10 tax exempt mot'd car for sale
Current customer rating: (270 votes ) based onOn the registration certificate it's listed as a 1602 but the chassis plate states it's a 1600-02 and after emailing the bmwgroup in Germany they state it's a 1600 manufactured Nov 1971
Having spent thousands over the last 5 years it still needs work to get it into what I would call a decent standard. although it's a pretty solid example it would definitely benefit from a respray and some minor bodywork.
Please don't expect to see a pure original car as I bought it as an unfinished project that required many parts sourcing.
Below is a list of its current spec
E30 m10 1. 8 engine running on l-jetronic fuel injection that may not be to everyone's taste but is totally reversible
It also has Gaz street coilovers that let it sit at this nice low stance. Because they are the street spec they have softer springs so offer a quality feel rather than the harsher track versions. Included in the sale are some standard front legs that will bolt straight up.
Volvo 240 four pot front callipers with all new kunifer brake lines and braided front hoses. Again I have standard caipers that are attached to the front suspension legs.
Rear brakes are standard
The interior has black seats. door cards and headlining. I think originally it would of had dark blue seats and cards and a white headlining.
Since owning the car I have replaced the clutch and slave cylinder with new items. It has had new rear subframe bushes as well as all new suspension bushes apart from the front top mounts which would of been next on the list.
Mot 22/01/17
Bad points
It jumps out of 2nd gear. I have just replaced the guibo flex disc thinking this was the problem but it still jumps out of 2nd if your jerky with the throttle. Im now suspecting it might be the selector shaft and have sourced what looks to be a good gearbox that will be included in the sale.
Interior needs finishing. Drivers seat has a split on the bottom cover
When the engines hot and the revs drop to below 1000 rpm the oil light flickers on. I have been told that this is not an issue when using an e10 pump with the e30 engine
Rust starting to bubble in some places like bottom of drivers door. around the boot lid. bottom corner of wind screen and a little around passenger door mirror. The spare wheel well will require some attention and possibly the rear passenger corner. The drivers sill also has some very small spots of rust appearing.
Would make a great light project for someone or if your feeling adventurous a full restoration would add so much value to this car.
I have seen rusty barn finds sell for more money than what the starting bid is. here you have a functional. drivable. practice car.
I'm sure I have missed loads of details and will happily answer any questions.
My number is 07941 883932 (Dan)
PLEASE NO DREAMERS. I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU VIEW BEFORE BIDDING.
