I am putting my 1967 model 770 Amphicar up for sale. This was my dad's car that he bought in 1969 from the original owner. This Amphicar has spent most of its life in Arizona so rust is at a minimum. The last time the Amphicar  was used was in 1972. Back in 1972. a storm broke one rear window and ripped the convertible top. The frame for the top is fine and goes up and down properly. After that. the Amphicar sat outside. under a tarp. for five years before being moved into a garage for the rest of its life.
Two years ago. I inherited this Amphicar and put it into my garage to begin its restoration. I had three goals to accomplish: #1 get it to run. #2 make sure it shifted through all gears and PTO and  #3 make sure it would stop. I have accomplished goal #1. I now have it running and have attached a video to prove it.
So far. have invested $5. 00. 00. I have all the receipts for the parts/repairs.  All parts have been purchased through Gordon's Imports of California.
Here is a quick overview of repairs:1. Fuel system: Boiled fuel tank. installed new fuel tap. and fueled solenoid valve. Installed new filter and fuel lines. Installed new fuel pump and rebuilt carburator. Installed new air cleaner assembly.
2. Cooling System: Flushed and rebuilt radiator and heater core. Installed new water pump. Installed correct heater hoses that can resist chemicals. Installed new radiator hoses. new thermostat. and fan belt.
3. Engine Oil: Cleaned and flushed engine cooler; Installed new engine cooler lines. Changed and flushed engine oil and installed new oil filter
4. Brakes: Installed new master cylinder.
I no longer have the time required to do a full restore. I would like to sell this vehicle to someone who has the time and knowledge to finish the Amphicar in a more timely manner.
The rust in the two rear quarter panels is the only area that needs new panels. The photos show the floor panel removed so you can see that this is surface rust only. The floor is very solid and you can see that the doors are clean.
I watched two Amphicars go across the auction block at Barrett's for 49K and 68K.
This is a very restorable Amphicar that needs someone to put her back in the water to enjoy.
