in 1968 a famous film was made based on Ian Flemings Novel Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. he magical car! and indeed the film as we all know and love !!chitty chitty Bang Bang!!!

The actual film car was based around the original chitty race cars driven in the 1930 s. nd raced by count Louis Zborowski!!

The actual chitty chitty bang bang used in the film was built in 1967!! 6 where built in total. ut only one road version was ever made.

The design team consisted of three people! Ken Adam. rederick Rowland!!and the car was bult at The world Famous Mann Racing.

This fully working pedal car is a copy of the original Chitty Race Cars that the 1968 car used in the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was based on! and was indeed built by one of the original Design team. hat designed and worked on the original car. !!THIS IS THE ONLY CHITTY PEDAL CAR IN THE WORLD!! Only one was ever made.

Contructed from a steel frame chassis as follows!!

half leaf front and rear working suspension.

Alloy bonnet!

Brass radiator surround!!

four branch brass exhaust pipes!

Alloy fuel tank. nd copper fuel lines.

working handbrake!

period steel braded steering wheel.

leather period seat. n a period alloy frame.

just a wonderful and beautifully crafted working model pedal car!!

from memory i think its 48 inches long! so will fit a youngster up to 4-5 years of age. although im sure it will go into a private collection.

This is totally original. nd in immaculate well kept order!! priced to achieve swift sale.

Hi,I read this advert with great interest.In the very near future,I will be posting images of this very same pedal car,that proves,I built it in 2010! It was NOT,as advertised,built by the original engineers of the "film" cars but bu myself,in my garage in Newcastle upon Tyne and most of the materials were sourced at a local B&Q store! The nylon wheels were bought from ebay and are new items.All the nuts ,bolts,fixings are modern,metric and many items were superglued to the car!
I am however,delighted to read your very complimentary description of the car and I am not disputing its value in any way.My only concern,is your description of its "false"provenance and mistaken builder credit and as such,I will be seeking only,to recieve FULL credit for its build!I have built similarly detailed pedal cars and this is in no way a "one off".I am still in the position to fabricate and build similarl,high quality pedal cars and aim to further my reputation as a pedal car producer in the "upper end" market.Yours sincerely.Kenneth Shields.
