1989 BMW E24 M635 CSI BLACK

have owned the car for 3 1/2 years and in that time the car has undergone a full restoration costing £1000's. When I purchased the car it had been used very little over the 4 years the previous owner had owned it but he had kept it in a climate controlled car storage bubble so the rust on the car was minimal which is rare for one of these cars. The car was in a very presentable condition when I bought it and could have been used straight away but I am a perfectionist when it comes to my cars and I wanted to make this car the best I possibly could. If you have any experience with bmw cars or their parts department you will know how expensive the older bmws can be to restore especially the M cars. Below is a breakdown of the things I have done. You can see the sort of money I have put into this car and every specialist job. paint. welding. engine work. transmission work has been carried out by bmw qualified mechanics. I never intended to sell this car but I have a young family and a busy job and cant justify owning such a car it deserves to be driven more than it is. The car has covered just over 144000 miles about 2500 miles in my ownership. Everything that has been done on the car has covered less than 2500 miles. I have two folders thick of receipts for all the work and even kept the old timing chain and guides so to prove its been done 100%. Bodywork The rust on the car was confined to the front wings. a small patch on the drivers foot well and two small sections on both lower rear arches. The wings were removed and sent to a specialist classic car restorer the wings were carefully stripped back to bare metal and repaired to as new standard and sprayed in 2 pac primer and two coats of POR15 Rust paint on the inside. these wings will never rust again. The inner wings and trumpet sections were completely rust free due to this being one of the last M635's made and therefore it had better galvanised panels and rust protection from the factory. I purchased two full new rear arch sections from Germany and cut off the small sections required for repair the arches so as to get a perfect finish. The floor panel was repaired by making a section and is as good as new. The car then had a complete glass out respray by a bmw trained and current bmw painter in the correct shade of Diamond metallic black. On completion of the paint all rubber door. boot. sunroof and engine seals were replaced for new. New bumper rubbing strips and front boomerang section fitted. New shadow line lower window trims and upper shadow line aluminium gutter trims. All new engine sound deadening as well. Lights The headlights were rebuilt with 4 brand new genuine headlights chrome retaining rings and all bushes and adjusters they were then correctly aligned. Both front fog lights were replaced. Both rear lights were cleaned and resprayed in silver paint to make them brighter. then new inner and outer seals fitted to both clusters. New number plate lights fitted. Cooling system New radiator fitted Every single coolant hose and jubilee clip replaced New thermostat New water pump New expansion tank. Braking system All four calipers were sent to Bigg Red calipers and completely rebuilt with new pistons and seals. then coated in hard wearing polymer black paint. New braided hoses all round New master cylinder New brake bomb Brake booster rebuilt Fuel & Ignition system All metal and rubber fuel lines. retaining clips and hose clips replaced. Fuel filter. pump and metal housing replaced. New K&N filter (less than 100 miles) New Air Flow Meter. Fuel tank cleaned and powder coated. all new retaining brackets used. Custom made 10mm magnacor ht leads New correct Bosch spark plugs ( fitted less than 100 miles ago ) New distributor cap and rotor arm The injectors were terracleaned along with the rest of the engine as well. The throttle bodies were completely stripped down and each aluminium part was sonic cleaned. All connecting rods. sprigs and nuts were polished and any plastic bushes were replaced. The car was then set up on a rolling road It Returned 278bhp with a smooth tourqe curve. Exhaust The car is fitted with a full Fritz bits stainless manifold and system which sounds epic in tunnels. the best sounding exhaust I have ever heard! New heatshields fitted throughout. Engine & Transmission The timing chain. guides and sprockets were changed at 142000 miles also and upgraded chain tensioner from an M3 was installed. Valve clearances and shims were also done at the same time. New timing case cover and cam cover gaskets. Just had a full oil & filter change today. Gearbox oil replaced LSD diff rebuilt with all new seals. gaskets and oil. All wheel bearings replaced Driveshafts fully rebuilt amd refurbed Steering & suspension Every single bush. control arm. link arm was replaced for either genuine bmw or ledaformer. Front subframe shot blasted and painted in POR 15. Steering bracket re-enforced (known weak spot) Rear axle carrier shot blasted and painted in POR 15. Both anti roll bars shot blasted and powder coated. All suspension dampers front and rear stripped and clean and inspected and found to be in excellent condition. I have a bill for all new suspension at 125000 miles. All painted and rebuilt with new rubbers and bump stops. Interior The interior is silver grey nappa leather with with full electric memory seats all working apart from drivers head rest (easy fix) It is in excellent condition wear wise with only the front bolsters with slight scuffing and requiring recolouring. I have a dye kit just not had chance to do it. There are no tears or rips in the leather. It has a fully functioning rear sunblind I have also fitted a DAB digital radio and an internal window mounted ariel. I have removed the old analogue ariel and plated over the hole as again I thought it ruined the lines of the car. it can be easily reinstated. Wheels & tyres The car is fitted with bmw 8 series staggered alloy wheels with Michelin pilot sports 6mm tread on the rear tyres and the fronts are brand new. Toolkit The car has its full tool kit including the M specific spark plug tool. It is missing the fabled blue bmw tool cloth unfortunately Additional information The car has the rare motorsport sideskirts fitted from new and also the rare servotronic steering box option. The car has a full service history and is HPI clear with a certificate to prove. I have old mots and tax discs to prove the mileage
