VW BEETLE 1957 **FULLY RECOMISIONED** like a brand new 59 yr old car**

relisted due to ebay mistake here we have a fully restored 1957 first of the big window beetles with the early semaphores fitted  from the chassis number was built in 1957 so one of the first to be made after the oval

I have the original log book 0 owners on it comes with workshop manual service book and petrol rations book so some great history with this car

the body

was stripped to bare metal for total respray in the correct l245 light bronze

had minor grafting in the body 2 small patches and 3 wing captive nuts

all panels was stripped to bare metal no repairs done

still has original heater channels are in great shape no repairs needed 

carrys original inner wings front rear can still see original spot welds from factory

the wings I had to replace as old ones was to far gone to repair to the standard I wanted for the finish of the beetle all the doors decklid bonnet are original to the car

the chassis

was stripped to bare metal no repairs needed doing so was treated to primered stone chip under side

and the top its still on its original pans no welding done to this so was primered and black glossed

all new  german quality cables was replaced ie accelerator clutch and choke cable

new master cylinder was fitted all new brake lines also fitted

 beam

was stripped painted regreased new seals the drums were stripped new cylinders brake shoes fitted even kept the original vw drums on them the backing plates are original to the car

back axle

was stripped down both swing arms was taken off gear box cleaned back to bare metal and coaed in paint drained and new oil put in new gaskets were fitted and new cv gaitors fitted both rear drums were stripped painted and fitted with new cylinders and brake shoes original vw hubs fitted back on new clutch pressure plate thrust bearing was also fitted

engine

was completely stripped down all original tin ware was sent off sand blasted and powder coated looks great its had new piston barrels new reconditioned heads from vw heritage so new valve guides valves new oil tubes fitted heater boxes was stripped powder coated new exhaust fitted engine still running 6v electrics  new plug leads plugs all rebuilt and is great engine

the interior

has had new woollen roof lining fitted and the correct colour seat cover and door cards fitted by spirit of the 50's looks absolutely stunning

carpets were from newton commercial correct for the year and compliments the inside beautifully

the original batwing steering wheel was fully restored again is as good as the day it left the factory  the steering column and indicator stalk was powder coated in ivory to match all other parts as was the handbrake and gearstick the handbrake gaitor I managed to source the original grey one as was used in this years beetle  all the original ivory dash knobs were cleaned and reused  the dash trim was reploished and put back in the pedal assembly was sand blasted and repowder coated the car has been rewired to original spec also this has no wing indicator or rear as is fitted with 6v semaphores all the window rubbers were replaced using german quality rubbers and chrome inserts all the glass is still original sekurit new grab handles were fitted and hooks polished to brand new still has original cardboard glovebox excellent condition and wiring cover is also fitted cardboard one not plastic please remember this is pre 60 car so seatbelts wasn't fitted and to keep it original I haven't fitted them either thought id just point this out

under bonnet

the fuel tank has been stripped and powder coated also has the fuel reserve tap fitted and extension handle which is rare to find finished with ivory knob inside the car new bonnet seal the orginal bonnet lock was sent away rezinc as brand new still has original jack and spare tyre is still fitted with the original german cross ply tyre the other 4 crossply tyres german made come with car

wheels

were sandblasted repainted with same outer rim colour as body and original insert colour was used the hub caps are original as when we got the car it had brand new set which I believe was purchased from new under bonnet the old ones will be given with the car white wall atlas inserts are fitted new radial tyres fitted all round for safety reasons

the bumpers

are the original us spec bumpers that was sent off stripped and quad plated in new chrome the brackets and support arms have been stripped and powder coated the bumpers look amazing   

external

new german quality chrome was fitted headlight chromes was rechromed as they are the original ones with the adjuster screws being at 9 and 12 oclock the glass has vw stamped on them look brand new

running boards are german quality ones not the cheap nasty ones on the market

this car really has had every attention to detail possible and the car shows it pics neva do justice needs to be seen this is one of the best if not the best on the market for sale this can easily win shows theres probably a lot more to write about any questions I'm more than happy to answer

please remember its 59 years old it doesn't have air con or cd player or even seatbelts fitted and doesn't have washers fitted as I think trying to keep it original as possible not chopped dropped and ratted but it does have advantages of mot and tax exempt being pre 60 so please bare this in mind this car needs to be seen to be appreciated  I have a few items that came off the car that will be given to new owner as to keep all original parts for it so viewing is welcome and advised
