volkswagan vw bay window camper van

I have loved my 1979 Type 2 campervan for thirteen years but with a rapidly expanding young family and an imminent house move I now reluctantly offer her for sale. Please note. I have recently returned to England after working abroad for the last three years and consequently the van has not moved a great deal in that time. Her condition is good considering that I have been unable to work on her for three years. and it will only take a small project to get this van back into mint condition.

The panels are straight. bright and shiny although the bodywork needs minor attention in the usual places. There is some erosion around the back door window but otherwise what there is is far from serious. All side windows have like-new rubbers and seals.

She has an original Westphalia interior: raiseable roof (like-new. genuine Westy roof canvas - no problem for giants) sink unit. twin gas burner fridge water reservoir draws. wardrobe rock-n-roll double bed etc. You may want to pretty up the interior but otherwise it is absolutely fine being clean and functional.

She has a very clean and tidy engine bay. The new VW 1641 cc engine was bought from Big Boys Toys in the summer of 2007 and remains in a mint condition having done less than 2. 00 miles. Everything is original VW. The receipt for the engine and all other receipts have

been

kept.

The van failed an MOT test on 15 June 2013. 28 minor items are identified on the garage's certificate. The items are all consistent with the van standing for three years. and the greatest of them are 3-off deteriorated brake plate(s) securing devices.

There are lots of extras you should expect with a well-loved van: breathable purpose made outdoor cover purpose made insulated window covers. chocks etc.

Please note: the gear shift has ceased being smooth.

You will appreciate the van comes without tax and MOT and you will notice the Irish registration plates. (She lived with me in southern Ireland for just over 12 months before I moved to Turkey for just under two years. ) The DVLA have confirmed that there are no additional costs involved with re-registering the van in the UK.

The above description of the campervan is the most honest I can give to my knowledge and I appreciate that my honesty may prevent some viewers from bidding for this van. But she really is in a good state for someone to take on a small project with a view to getting her back on the road very quickly. The auction starting price reflects that works needs doing on the van to get it past its MOT and that the body work needs minor attention.
