**NEW MOT** I'm so sad to have to say goodbye to my lovely Figaro! (I never thought I would have to part with it. but my new job involves a long commute so I've bought a more suitable car and there's just nowhere to keep the Fig) Since I've had it. I have spared no expense in the upkeep of my gorgeous little car.
It has been looked after by the Figaro specialists in Didcot. Oxfordshire (thefigaroshop. co. uk) and (this year) been treated to new bumpers. new chrome trim. new wheel polos. a new rear wing (the old one got bumped in a car park) and treatment to some rust on a wheel arch.
The bodywork is now virtually rust free! The underneath has been regularly wax-oiled and it has always been garaged and kept protected from the elements.
The year before last it had a new roof and the roof seals re-stretched and re-sealed.
The year before that the gearbox was leaking some oil so it had a new (reconditioned) gearbox (from the specialist in Oxfordshire).
It also has a brand new engine temperature sensor & cold start valve/ idle valve (these tend to go a bit dodgy after a while on the figs). plus numerous other bits & pieces that had perished or were on the way out (including a new release switch for the hood compartment).
Also recently had new front tyres. When I bought it I had the cd player / radio re-furbished (sent away to specialists in Edinburgh) and an auxiliary input added for an ipod or phone. The interior is all original but in great condition.
The leather is worn but good and the dashboard top is perfect (a lot of Figaro's dash tops get cracked from sun exposure). I've also replaced the foam in the driver's seat as it was getting a bit squishy.
The passenger seat is fine but I have the spare foam if the buyer wanted to do that one too (the seats are very easy to take out and replace).
There are still other bits and pieces (interior cosmetic) that I would have liked to get round to - but nothing imminent.
The exterior paintwork is flawless. Figaros are £120 a year to tax and very cheap to insure (as they can be insured on a classic car policy).
This one is fitted with a Thatcham's Immobiliser (which brings the insurance down significantly too). Although they have a tiny engine. the turbo means that they are more than capable of keeping up with motorway traffic.
The automatic gearbox and power steering provide a really smooth. luxurious drive (it feels like a much bigger car).
The heating is excellent in winter (warms up in seconds) but in the summer the Figgy really comes into its own and you get a really lovely drive with the roof down. but protected from the wind by the side sections. New MOT (up until next august - only thing that needed doing was new wiper blades. only advisory was back tyres beginning to show some small cracks - fine for the time being) I have loved owning this car and will really miss it! I just want it to be looked after and enjoyed by someone as much as I have! Any questions I will do my best to answer. Thanks for looking! (payment on collection - in Newport. Gwent)
