1968 Dodge Charger Base Hardtop 2-Door 7.2L

1968 Dodge Charger Tribute.

NOT an original RT. I bought this car in San Diego in October 2010 and just completed a frame on restoration in March of this year.

ENGINE

The engine. a 440 was torn down to the block. It was line ad bore honed to . 030 over.

A new balanced blue printed rotating assembly by Muscle Motors was professionally installed.

The motor was built to withstand up to 2000 HP.

Compression was reduced to 8:1 with Ross pistons and Hellfire rings. custom Smith Bros heavy duty pushrods. A new D 1 SC Procharger (15 PSI) kit with power-steering and AC compressor was installed along with a new single plane intake manifold. Ontop of the intake sits a ZEX custom NOS plate with a 200 shot pill and and a n 850 CFM Holley blow-through carb. The heads were completely rebuilt withdouble springs and oversized valves. Custom roller cam. roller valves and double springs with titanium retainers.

Both the heads. intake AND exhaust manifolds were polished and port matched. The Supercharger is equipped with a PSI regulated water/methanol injection system.

The Doug Hedder headers were ceramic coated and flow into a custom 3 inch exhaust system that is equipped with electric cut-outs which open at the flip of a switch.

The engine is cooled by a new 3 row aluminum radiator with thermal controlled dual fans. Fuel is supplied by a double filtered Magna Fuel Prostar pump and an Aeromotive pressure regulated fuel regulator with return line. Estimated horsepower is a conservative 1000 BHP at 15 PSI. plus an additional 200 NOS shot.

The NOS system is controlled by a switch on the dash and a micro switch on the carburetor.

NOS purges from the front side markers with blue LED lights when the windshield washer button is pushed.

Spark is supplied by a billet MSD distributor. Live Wire 10 MM wires and an MSD 6 AL 2 programmable ignition box.

DRIVETRAIN

The drive train consist of a new Dana 60 rear end with a 3. 54 posi gear. slotted drilled front and rear brakes. Caltrac traction system. new heavy duty Landrum leaf springs. 3. 5 inch custom drive shaft. new pinion and slip yoke with 1350 Spicer joints.

Drive shaft loop. 4 speed transmission with heavy duty clutch. Two sets of wheels. 17 inch Magnum 500 wheels with Mickey Thompson ET 295/45/17's in the rear and a set of 201 blacked out Camaro wheels (with lug adapters and Mickey Thompson ET 305/35/20's in the rear.

BODY and PAINT

Interior is not new but looks new.

Custom Carbon fiber 4 pod gauge cluster (fuel pressure with isolator. oil pressure. water temp and vac/boost).

New electric headlight actuators. new HID headlight (with ballast). new LED tail lights. all window and door handles (inside and out). new front and rear side markers. new front and rear bumpers. AWESOME black PPG paint. custom carbon fiber RT graphics and bumble bee stripe. custom carbon fiber dash cover and factory gauge covers. New hurst pistol grip shifter with carbon fiber handle. new side mirrors. new Tic Tac gauge. new custom carbon fiber front spoiler. new front park light assembly. New window tint. New Gas cap and antennae.

There is a small dent/scratch in front of the driver rear tire. the result of a trailer unloading incident.
