This XJS is quite simply one of the best out there. It is a 1983 HE V 12. with 115 k miles. It is close to perfection cosmetically and mechanincally. It has had a complete restoration. The previous owner put over $40. 00 into it over a decade or so. including high quality respray to original stock color. top-end rebuild including new valve seats (a common problem on the V 12) and a complete new fuel injection system. It has had all new bushings and suspension components. brakes are in great condition too. It has new original (later) stock 15" wheelsand has had a new GM 400 transimssion and new 3:31 ratio rear end. It has a refreshed AC system that works great. I have installed a new power steering pump and hoses. so it is now quiet and smooth. like the rest of the car. The interior is immaculate and everything works. Windows. power mirrors. lights. switches. everything works. Leather is original but has been reconditioned and is beautiful. I returned the center console to stock and installed a new but retro-look USB/CD/MP 3 player (the speakers are not great). Most of this restoration work is less than 1000 miles old. I have a STACK of receipts dating back 30+ years. All the restoration work other than the power steering was done by the previous owner. who owned the car since 1992.
Highlights:$5000 top end engine rebuild New injectors New Steering rack New power steering hoses and fluidnew battery New balljoints and alignmentnew control arm bushings. sway bar bushings. subframe bushings. tie-rod ends New Fuel tank and sender units Upgraded BMW brake rotors New ACNew Koni Shocks New transmission about 10 years ago New rear end (diff) also about 10 years ago Bare metal respray to DP 50 LF cobalt blueand much more!!
receipts for over $40. 00 dating back from new!
I am a car collector with no expense spared attention to detail. I currently have 8 cars. and this one is not enough of a project for me. and I prefer smaller sports cars. so I am letting it go to reclaim some space.
