1979 International Harvester Scout Scout II for sale
Current customer rating:
In my opinion. this Scout is in great shape for being 37 years old. Below is a list of all that I could think of to say about it. but please ask questions.
General Information:
Daily driver until November 2001
Garaged from 2001 until 2014
Not currently licensed
Have owned it since 1995 and been in Nevada
Exterior and mechanical:
Very little rust on the frame. floor boards. body. etc.
All glass is in good shape
Rear windows open. however. handles will need new fasteners
Drivers door inside handle does not work. will need new plastic clips
Driver and passenger door windows roll up and down smoothly
Rear hatch opens/closes and locks
Paint is chipped
Engine oil and filter are new
Engine starts and runs smoothly
345 Engine is from a 1974 Scout II Traveler – unsure how many miles on it. but does not
burn oil
Smog equipment has been removed
New starter. fuel pump. spark plugs and wires. transmission shift cable. gas pick-up and sending unit
Rebuilt. two-barrel Holly carburetor (not original)
Transmission shifts through all gears
Hubs lock and four-wheel drive works great
Transfer case shifts through all ranges
Tires about 50%
Gas tank was cleaned out in 2015
Power steering gear box leaks
Power brakes work and do not leak fluid
Interior:
Lap seat belts Upholstery in fair condition Needs a new voltage regulator for the instrument panel Needs a new boot for the transmission shift lever Center console plastic is broken Needs new weather stripping
It is up to the buyer to do their due diligence prior to purchasing this Scout. It will not take much work to make it a daily driver again. however. I would not recommend the buyer drive the vehicle home in its current condition. It is up to the buyer to pick up the Scout which is located in Reno. Nevada. The seller will not deliver.
Buyer must arrange for pick up within two weeks of winning the auction.
