ford econoline 1963 panel van. 6 cylinder petrol with 3 speed manual gearbox ( 3 on the tree ) uk registered.
this is a very rare chance to buy a piece of american history. this van was originally bought new for the norfolk county fire dept in massachusetts. the guy i bought it from had known the van its whole life as his father served in this fire station and he remembered it being bought new. then because of the attachment to it the family bought it from the fire service when it was de-comissioned in 2003. being ex fire dept it was dry stored and well maintained from 1963-2003 and has only covered just under 18. 00 miles from new! for a 50 year old commercial its very straight and solid indeed. you would struggle to find a one in such original condition even in the usa let alone over in europe. as i say the body is very good though as you can see from the pics it has a spot of rust near one headlight and a little bit on one sill though these are not massive rust problems by any means. i could easily have had these fixed and resprayed but its extremely honest so thought it best left for now . mechanically its good to although the carb needs setting up as it doesnt like to tick over without a little choke. ive now dropped the price by £1000 so this should more than cover getting it sorted or replaced. even still its a lovely 50 year old van thats never seen a day on a building site and driven to destruction then tarted up like most. its could very easily be a show winner with a lick of paint and few light repairs or even turned into a camper/dayvan or rolling business advert. people are asking £7000-£8000 for later model resto projects and compared to a 1963 vw equivalent i think shes a bargain and even rarer! thanks for looking. if you have any questions feel free to ask. cash on collection only
