This UK/RHD model is one of the nicest & certainly the best maintained example of a manual W113. 230SL Pagoda that we have ever had the privilege to bring to the market. Currently owned by an eminent doctor based in Dundee. whom purchased (via an agent) from the widow of a fellow doctor now diseased whom also resided in Scotland. He was an active member of the MB owners club & cared for this stunning vehicle for 10 years. Prior to that the first owner of the vehicle on repatriation from Hong Kong resided in Chancery Lane. London WC2.

The vehicle was originally dispatched from the MB Sindelfingen plant in April 1964 to England where it was duly exported to the Island of Hong Kong by a British Diplomat for his wife.   The vehicle remained on the island until it was repatriated on 14th September 1988. It now shows only 4 previous keepers on the UK V5C. thus this example is in breathtaking condition & a true collector's vehicle!

Showing only 28. 00 miles – possibly correct. but not warranted. As the vehicle was owned & driven by the wife of the UK diplomat whilst in HK. it is fair to say that they would have been chauffeured around the island to engagements & the W113 would have had little use & could not reasonably have clocked up a high mileage. Indeed the previous Doctor owners widow has included a signed statement / letter in the history file confirming that the mileage was 16. 00 when they purchased the vehicle 2 years after import on 14th February 2002 & they were told by the supplying dealer it was believed correct. (On registration in the UK it was issued with its current registration number).   It is also proven by way of service invoices on entering the UK that the mileage was 15. 71 in September 1998 at the point of arrival. Further it is warranted that from this point in time & mileage. that the car has only travelled 12. 00 miles to this date & this is verified by the copious service & maintenance invoices & past MOTs along with the fact that continuous ownership is know & recorded from repatriation.

There is also an original letter dated 2nd December 1998 from Daimler Chrysler verifying the vehicle details at build with a copy of the original MB data card. Thus Daimler Chrysler confirmed this vehicle was built in April 1964 at the Sindelfingen plant & then shipped to Mercedes Benz UK for final onward delivery. (This being the Island of Hong Kong). The letter also confirms the original specification & data card details etc.

This example has the best & most thorough history file of any Pagoda we have ever offered & details maintenance. servicing & improvements regardless of cost. Indeed there are over 110 service. parts & maintenance invoices mainly from Jackson's MB in Poole Dorset. specialist MB workshops & restorations companies which total well over £50. 00!

Finished in period MB Papyrus white (717G) with an as new navy blue soft top & matching fully restored navy blue hard top along with a stunning new blue MB tex complete interior.

2306cc – 6 cylinders - Manual gear box example – The real drivers choice!

To summarise the more recent expenditure. in March 2002 onwards the vehicle was treated to a full engine & mechanical overhaul which also included the brakes at a total cost of over £5. 00 with all genuine MB parts used from Jackson's of Poole. This in brief included a new timing chain. tensioner. rails. injection system. camshaft. rocker arms along with another full service.

In August 2002 the Pagoda hard top was also fully restored. with new metal let in. a bare metal repaint. new chrome. new seals & rubbers along with new head lining & a full repaint in the original dark blue MB colour at a total cost of £1. 11. 70. Undertaken by Classic Vintage Restoration Services of Inverness.

In the summer of 2004 the vehicle was subject to a full bare metal restoration of the undercarriage. in fact all metal areas from the rear of the firewall to the rear number plate were dealt with at a cost of over £9. 00 by T&D Heaney Motor Co – Co Derry Northern Ireland with accompanying evidence (CD Rom) & invoices.

In the summer of 2008 Classic Restorations – Perthshire undertook a full detailed retrim. including both seats. carpets. door cards. wooden dash top & speaker cover. hood cover panel. complete dash top. sound deadening to floor pans. sound proofing etc at a total cost of £6. 16. 13

Further in September 2008. Mercparts Scotland fitted. new bushes. shocks. springs. rubbers. callipers. discs. pads. flexi hoses at a cost of £4. 97. 10 & further a new Bosch alternator & full service at £759. 10.

In May 2009 the arches were all treated to wax oil & following on in July 2010 a full genuine MB exhaust system was supplied & fitted at the cost of £744. 89 plus labour to fit.

In August 2010 MB Aberdeen supplied a new radiator at £423 plus fitting & further more in July 2012 The SL Shop undertook a full service. fitted new Bosch wiper blades & brake cylinder etc at a cost of £654. 70

We have now just undertaken a full & thorough professional repaint of the complete vehicle to concours standard along with the engine bay and inner face of bonnet in the original paint code (717G). We have taken copious photos which are now printed out & placed in the massive history file.

We have painted to match the original MB hub caps. or if you prefer we will supply the car with a later full face MB hub cap set also painted to match the vehicle.

We have also replated most of the external chrome work. including the period mirrors. fitted a new genuine MB firewall panel (Supplied from Jackson's of Poole). fitted new rubber mouldings to both sides of the vehicle again supplied by Jackson's. painted the boot to the correct specification. fully detailed. fettled & valeted this most impressive example. (This has cost us at trade rates £6. 50)…

Our technician has just undertaken a multi point check. it does not require a service as this was undertaken on 20th July 2012 & the vehicle has only done a nominal mileage since. We can confirm this car is on the button with no issues and ready to go.

This iconic nineteen sixties legend is in truly fantastic condition. There can't be many left like this. This W113 has obviously been maintained and cherished by MB enthusiasts and club members through out its life to date with no expense being spared. This must be a blue chip investment and is certainly better than having your money earning very little interest in the bank!
