1974 Alfa Romeo GTV Vintage Race Car
The car was built in 2005 and was raced with VRG. COMSCC and AROC from 2006 through 2010. While it has not been on the track in two years. it has been driven around on the streets. though it is not street legal. It has been a reliable. well-balanced. competitive car that is pretty and a pleasure to race. With a quick inspection. an oil change and some gas. it is ready to race now.
Body:
Starting with a GTV shell. the car was stripped to bare metal and the engine bay and suspension pick up points were seal welded.
An SCCA legal full cage was installed.
The trunk was reinforced to accommodate the panhard rod.
The stock gas tank location was covered with a custom aluminum panel.
The spare tire well was cut out and reinforced to install a 12 gallon fuel cell.
The battery was relocated to the passenger rear floor.
The shell was then painted with grey epoxy primer. The exterior was painted in Alfa Azzuro Le Mans.
The rear package tray area was replaced with aluminum. The hood and doors were lightened.
A custom aluminum dash board was fabricated and installed with a Jaeger tach (from an Alfa Spider) located in the center and Autometer gages for Oil P. T and coolant T located to the right.
Front and rear windows are stock and have the SCCA required clips and retaining hardware.
Side quarter windows are Lexan.
Removable acrylic door windows come with the car to keep rain out when transporting it.
The grill is from a '71 GTV.
The seat is a Sparco unit.
Steering wheel is a Momo unit.
Left front fender has some minor denting on it from a scuffle with a 914 at a VRG event - it is purely cosmetic.
Drivetrain:
Engine is a 2 L built for IT racing
Shankle 8 L (5418) Cams
Weber DCOE 40 s
Marelliplex ignition
