Super nice Fiat 1200 spyder. These early Fiat spyders are the last affordable examples of late Fiftys classic Pininfarina styling. I have injoyed this car for the last seven years. This is one of those cars that just put a smile on your face when you look at it in the garage. This rust free example has a flawless dent free body and very nice paint. Canvas top is one year old. Bumpers have both been rechromed. Stainless trim is shiney and dent free. Doors have original interior panels in great shape. Seats have been redone at sometime but a nice job. Original carpet on passenger floor and transmission tunnel. Car has its original spare tire cover. battery box cover and fuse box cover which are items commonly missing on these cars. Motor runs strong yet idles like a little sewing machine. quite and smooth. Transmission shifts smoothly with strong syncros. Drum brakes are suprisingly strong. as good as any vintage Alfa Romeo I have owned. and they are the gold standard of drum brakes! Performance is better than you would expect with 1200 cc and the car will happly run down the highway at 70 mph but that is really not the point. This is a top down touring car for the back roads that brings back the motoring pleasures of a simpler time. No disapointments. The good: timeless styling. great original color. straight rust free body. ewer cloth top. nice interior. great motor. good brakes. and good tires. The bad: windshield has a short wiper scratch in the top left corner but it is not in the line of sight. speedometer plastic lettering ring is a little milky from sunlight but instrument gauge is clear. and chrome hood scoop trim has some very small pitting (see photos).
