When the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was released to the public in
October 1965. the development departments were showing the result
of work carried out over a period of some ten years. The new models
were technically striking in three ways. A monocoque chassis was
used all wheels were sprung independently and four wheel disc
brakes now ensured stopping power of the sort that had come to be
expected in a modern car. Under the bonnet. the V 8 engine that had
been introduced in the Silver Cloud series was employed.
With only three keepers from new. this charming Silver Shadow
was first registered on 5 th March 1971 via HR Owen of 17 Berkeley
Street. London. The car has resided with the current keeper for the
last 18 years and is supplied with a large file of bills and
receipts including 18 old Mo T test certificates with the earliest
dating back to 1982 and a current item valid until February 2017.
Showing only 42. 13 miles from new. it is supplied with a V 5
document and a Service and Maintenance schedule booklet. a
handbook. a Sales and Service booklet. exhaust guarantee booklet. a
Jack Barclay Maintenance and Touring data brochure as well as hand
written notes dating from 1971 through to 2014 confirming the car's
mileage and service history. Finished in green with a contrasting
beige interior. this Silver Shadow represents a fine example of the
model.
