To modernise the Triumph TR 5 that had evolved from the
Michelotti designed TR 4. Triumph looked to produce a new modern
body. Triumph commissioned Karmann of Germany but the task was
difficult as Karmann had to produce a new body style whilst
retaining much of the original structure. The re-style included a
new nose. wings and a new tail. The result was the 'Kamm' tailed
TR 6 and was produced between 1969 and 1976. The home market TR 6
initially produced 150 bhp but was later detuned to 125 bhp. Due to
their greater power output. the early models are sought after
amongst the Triumph enthusiasts.
This fabulous Triumph TR 6 with Pimento red exterior paint and
black soft-top. comes supplied with an extensive history file. br/>documenting an impressive history over the last 25 years and also
includes a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate
confirming its credentials as an original home-market. righthand
drive example.
Extensive remedial works have been
undertaken together with a recent engine re-tune and a full strip. br/>paint and waxoil to the underside of this example to protect the
car from the elements. Regular maintenance. servicing and Mo T tests
can all be found in the history file alongside the receipts for
recent works amounting to £3. 00. The overall condition is
excellent with good paintwork and a contrasting tan interior. Added
extras when built included disc wheels. overdrive. static seat
belts. heater and Dunlop sport tyres. Well presented and well
documented. this Triumph is exactly what a quality example should
be so much so that the owner had a category 1 alarm fitted to keep
his pride and joy safe and secure.
