1970 Cadillac Eldorado 8 2L 500CI V8 Project 2 Door Hardtop Rare in ACT

As it stands this project owes me around $19. 00 but I do not expect to get that back. So. if you're after an awesome Summernats project then this is it. You can paint this car any colour you want so now's the best time to buy before it all goes back together. Some chrome is peeling under the front bumper but I was not going to have it re chromed in a big hurry as it isn't really noticeable. You'll want to replace some belts and hoses as the car hasn't been driven for a few years but it does get started regularly and I keep a trickle charger on the battery. There's some dust in the engine bay from the body work job. The top cover for the dash is cracked and needs repair.

You can get aluminium heads and intake manifold for this engine from Edelbrock if 400hp isn't enough!

The rusted rear parcel shelf has been completely replaced. The windscreen opening had some rust around the bottom which was properly repaired. and the holes in the floor. wheel well and trunk. The exterior body has been taken back to bare metal as you can see in the photos. The car currently sits in 2pak primer awaiting paint after some minor prep work.

I have a brand new front windscreen for it. The rear electric windows are seriously cool as they slide backwards only a couple of inches and that's all. I have all the bits and pieces to finish this car as it was complete when I purchased it (see photos).

The 500ci 8. 2 Litre v8 engine runs very well and is in very good condition. It makes a seriously nice sound. This was the biggest engine ever made for a passenger class car. From Wikipedia: "In 1970 the Eldorado introduced the new 500 cu in (8. 2 L) V8 engine. the largest-ever production V8. rated SAE gross 400 hp (298 kW) and 550 lb·ft (746 N·m)"

These low-rider cars are front wheel drive so they sit very low to the ground as they have no drive shaft or rear diff. The back height can be adjusted by a compressor under the bonnet.

The interior is black leather. I do not see a need to replace it as it just needs a good clean. The front seats fold right down and have a hard back. This was so a couple could go to the drive-in movie and sit in the back seat with their feet up. The car has many great features like electric windows. cruise control and air conditioning. and a feature called a "Twilight Sentinel" which is a little eye in the front of the car that dims your headlights when it sees oncoming traffic at night. It is a 2-door rare hardtop version. It had a vinyl roof so the rivets are still in the roof for the chrome trim but I was considering removing them and painting it an all-over colour.

The original Cadillac Protect-o-Plate is included. which is an important document for any Cadillac as it has the original owner's name and other details on it and is like a certificate of authenticity that adds value to the car. I have the service and rego history of this car going back a few decades.
