1903 Dedion Bouton 8 hp Rear entrance Tonneau.
A lovely quaint London to Brighton Entrant. The car is VCC dated & has successfully completed the London to Brighton run on numerous occasions.
The car is in good mechanical and cosmetic condition. The engine and transmission were reconditioned by a previous owner. The work included a new piston. new bearings in the engine. new clutch linings in the gearbox etc etc. The car has completed approximately 1000 totally reliable miles since then.
The body work is in excellent condition. coach painted in dark blue with black wings.
The seating is buttoned grey leather and again in very good condition.
In the last ownership it has been entered and completed seven London to Brighton runs. It comes with a tonneau cover & two new spare tyres with inner tubes.
The original Carburetor comes with the car but has been replaced by a more modern unit that give far easier & trouble free running. An electric fan has been fitted to augment the cooling of the engine.
Starting the car is a simple affair: Turn on Fuel. Tickle Carb until flooding. Retard ignition & set hand throttle. Turn engine on the handle three times to get mixture into the combustion chamber. Turn on ignition & swing once more & off she goes.
The car has a two speed gear box with first being quite low allowing for successful ascents of both Signal & Clayton hills en route to Brighton. It is also a fun car to fire up on a Sunday afternoon & take to the local pub where it is always a centre of attention.
The car comes with a London to Brighton Entry for this year. We will assist any purchaser by getting it to the starting line & giving some instruction in its correct operation prior to the run. As London to Brighton aficionados know. these cars need good preparation to made the journey & the fact that this car has done it 7 times in a row without mishap is a testament to its fine fettle.
