The Gravetti Engineering (GE) 427 is a replica of the 1960's
classic. the AC Cobra. With the advantages of modern engineering
techniques and safety features. GE Ltd. offered several engine and
gearbox options set into a ladder style chassis that was treated
with two part acrylic paint and Wax for longevity. The front and
rear suspension and brakes were taken and modified from a donor
Jaguar that also supplied the identity and year of the car. Rack
and pinion steering and Halibrand replicas wheels were also a
feature.


We are pleased to offer this attractive example of the legendary
AC Cobra. Owned by the same family since 1988. OYF 725F boasts a
351 cu in Ford Cleveland 351-2C V8 engine mated to a C4 three speed
automatic transmission (primarily designed for Ford's in line six
cylinder and small block V8 engines) with a Salisbury 4HU limited
slip differential final drive. We are informed that Prostreet
Engineering overhauled the auto box in 2004 with the engine having
been rebuilt in 2011 by the vendor. a qualified Aerospace Engineer.
The engine rebuild included replacement bearings and balancing
carried out by Real Steel of Uxbridge. Twin auto cooling fans (with
a driver override switch) protects the engine from overheating.
Bespoke exhaust extraction from the headers (manifold) to the
Cherry Bomb silencers has been fabricated by the well respected
tuning specialists. Len Hartley Developments of Swindon. Repainted
in 2000 using two pack acrylic paint. the coachwork still looks
resplendent in red; a tribute to the quality of the refinishing
works 15 years ago. giving this Cobra a commanding presence. br/>especially with its central white stripes and replica Halibrand
wheels. A roll over hoop is incorporated as well as a useful
lockable boot space. The leather seats have that 'just right'
patina with Wilans harnesses fitted to keep the driver and
passenger secure. This GE Cobra benefits from the long body
tub option that allows for taller occupants; the current seat
position is set for a 6' 3" driver. (Please note and in addition:
The car is protected by a Selca Immobiliser. the dummy wheel
spinners and Perspex smoked sun visors are included but not fitted. br/>there is a hood and hood frame and two bonnet options. both
included; one with air intake and one without. This GE Cobra boasts
a UK V5 registration document and qualifies for 'Historic' free
road fund license. Importantly. the Cobra is correctly
registered as a Gravetti AC Cobra. and has a large file including
the build instructions and invoices. We are advised that it will
also arrive at the sale with a fresh MoT test certificate.
