Conceived in 1966 to meet the demand for a car less cumbersome than the Mk X and with more luxurious features. the 4. 2 litre engined Daimler was warmly received.

The Daimler brand and the Sovereign derivative were perceived as luxurious by the public and actively marketed as such by the manufacturers. Usually with an automatic gearbox and with power steering as standard equipment. the wood and leather interior marked it out as fitting personal transport for the company director.

Written as 420. but pronounced four-twenty the abbreviated name is recognized. by those in the know. to mean Daimler and therefore “quality”.

A bi-product of quality is longevity and many survive. Few however are better preserved than the astonishingly low mileage example which we have the privelidge of offering for sale.
