This is a very rare and well prepared road/rally car with over £30 k having been lavished on its restoration and preparation a few years ago. Quite remarkably it has only had 2 owners from new and only covered 54 k Miles since new.
It was sold new on 27 th February 1960 to a Mr. Brown by The Car Mart in Catford. London. The original Bill of Sale is included in the history file! The car was purchased from the first owner in 1994 and was then entrusted to Hightone Restorations. who comprehensively restored the car in the early 2000's with a full photographic record with accompanying invoices. The car was then upgraded throughout the following decade to a fast road/rally spec with a view to competing in various events.
A brief summary of the specification is as follows: Original 948 cc engine increased to 978 cc Extensive Cylinder Head Mods by Oselli and Rob Walker Compression Ration approx 11:1 Camshaft: MD 266 Carb: Weber 45 DCOE Exhaust: LCB Gearbox fitted with close ratio straight cut gears Front Disc Brake Conversion Rear brakes converted to Hydraulic/Mechanical operation Rear Shocks from Lever Arm to Telescoopic Uprated Springs Alternator Twin Fuel Tanks Six Point Roll Cage Plumbed in Fire Extinguisher Full Rally Tripmeters and Clocks 66 bhp at Rolling Road.
The car has a FIVA identity card and would make a perfect fast road/rally car. all the hard work has been done. there are many spares with the car and I have not seen a better one on the open market! Please be quick at this price.
