Hi all. up for sale is my gorgeous little Series V Hillman Minx from 1965—for all the classic and vintage car lovers and enthusiasts out there.

This car has been partly restored. All the hard work has been done with the rust removed (nothing major has been found). a little re-trimming work done on the upholstery. and a full respray. Some of the other work completed since May 2012 (when I purchased the car) include:-

New front tyres (165/80R15 radials—the rear tyres are the same. and still have lots of tread left on them. )

New rear shock absorbers (Monroe gas. part no. 14-0061).

New indicator switch

New rear window seal

New bailey (window) channels

New rear wheel cylinders. rear axle seals. brake drums machined and new brake shoes fitted. (Note: This car has a disc-brake front end. The pads and rotors were good. so didn't need any work doing to them. ) The rear springs were reset and new bushings and saddle pads also fitted at this time.

Speedo head serviced. repaired. and re-calibrated.

More recently (September 2014). it had a new starter motor and full custom exhaust system fitted.

This is a nice looking car with a tasteful colour combination. being finished in Ford Polar White (an XW or XY Falcon colour) and red trim. It certainly turns heads and I get a lot of compliments from admirers—this car stands out from the crowd!

As you could well imagine. I have spent a lot of money on this car; and this is an extremely regretful sale as I was restoring the car to keep it. not to sell. I have owned it only too briefly. but now it is time to pass it on to the next custodian who can love it. enjoy it. and maintain it the way it needs to be.

This car is factory-fitted with a 4-speed. all-synchromesh gearbox with floor shift (earlier cars were “crash” on 1st gear. )

The original Solex carby is in need of an overhaul (or replacing). but the car comes with a brand new (never used) Weber carby (see photo. ) It will need a new throttle linkage made up for the Weber. but that shouldn't prove too difficult for someone with the necessary skills.

Photos (before. during and after the respray). help to show the condition of the vehicle and form part of the description.

Sold in as is where is basis only. with no warranties expressed or implied. by the Seller.

All inspections are welcome but to be done prior to the sale—you bid to buy. not to look!

The mileage is represented to be. “to the best of my knowledge”. but not guaranteed. However. from what the previous owner told me (“the cylinder head was serviced at 90. 00 miles”). it should be genuine. Note however that the odometer is in miles. not kilometres. And it doesn't have a 100. 00 mile digit. I added that since the car has “been around the clock. ”

While the engine number matches the body number (indicating it to be the original). I CANNOT guarantee that the motor is. in fact. the original. There is always the possibility of re-stamped motors. and as technology advances there will no doubt be even more in time to come.

It almost goes without saying that this car is pre-owned. not brand new. It is in good overall condition but by no means Concours d'Elegance. While it could be shown as it is (which I would liked to have done if I had the health and finances to complete the restoration) there is always room for improvement on a car such as this.

After a careful reading of the entire description. rather than making a potentially incorrect assumption. if any statement or comment is unclear. or if you have questions. please call me (or message me through eBay) prior to bidding. My contact number is 0743 243 765.

This car is advertised elsewhere. so I reserve the right to cancel bids and/or this auction at any time and for any reason.

Happy bidding! :-)

Hi I am looking to buy a older car that matches my years, you have indicated that it needs more restoration what does that mean I am a mechanic by trade and don't mind a little work mechanical wise but don't like rust any hints one what else to be done would really be appreciated
Thanks
