1971 MG BGT Supercharged for sale

MG has a famous history with supercharged sports cars. br/>particularly in the pre-war era. This post war 1971 supercharged MG
BGT started life with a standard 1800 cc unit. It was built as the
sister and tow car to a MG BGT V 8 Sebring recreation.
The engine and gearbox were removed and the engine bay
sandblasted then sprayed metallic dark British Racing Green. The
engine was rebuilt with a gas-flowed head and the pistons replaced
for ones suitable for supercharging. A NOS (new old stock) Shorrock
142 B supercharger kit was fitted along with a LCB manifold and big
bore exhaust. The gearbox was replaced with an overdrive version.
The car was then test driven to check setup. She was then stripped
out. the suspension overhauled and up-rated Spax adjustable shock
absorbers fitted to the rear with new springs. front shock
absorbers and anti-roll bars to the front. Minimal rust was found
to the body shell however. what was found was removed and the
necessary high quality repairs undertaken. The bumpers were removed
and a steel Sebring front valance was fabricated as well as a
fibreglass Sebring rear panel to further improve the looks. An MGC
fibreglass bonnet was added to clear the supercharger's
carburettor. The car was then shipped to Faircharm Restorations for
preparation and re-sprayed in metallic dark British Racing Green.
In addition. a dual point Mallory distributor was fitted to enable
an accurate timing curve for the supercharger to be set.
In 2013 the vendor spent a further £2. 00 carrying out
improvements. this included a full service. wiring repairs to the
front wiring loom. new oil pressure/water temperature gauges as
well as new rear number plate lights and new number plates. A horn
was supplied and fitted together with a new indicator/horn/dip
switch. The brakes were up rated with MG Owners Club front
callipers. brake pads and grooved brake discs together with a new
brake master cylinder and the overdrive solenoid was replaced. New
seat belts were fitted along with new door mirrors and a new MGOC
exhaust system. Finally. earlier this year. four new Avon tyres
were added and a Mo T test certificate obtained which expires on the
24 th April. 2015.
The file accompanying this car has receipts for items purchased
including the receipt for the Shorrock Supercharger from Alf Hagon
of London. a detailed build book as well as the UK registration
document. When one considers the specification and works carried
out. this supercharged MG represents excellent value and huge fun
in classic form.
