The Excalibur from Milwaukee. Wisconsin. was a car styled after
the 1928 Mercedes-Benz SSK by Brooks Stevens for Studebaker.
Stevens subsequently formed a company to manufacture and market the
cars. which were conventional under their styling. A prototype
premiered at car shows in 1964 fitted on a Studebaker chassis and
using a 290-horsepower Studebaker 289 ci V 8. Studebaker subsequently
ceased operations. ending the availability of its 289 ci V 8 so
general Motors agreed to provide the a Chevrolet 327 ci in 300 bhp
Corvette tune. making the 2100-pound Excalibur a strong performer.
With acceleration from 0-60 mph taking less than five seconds and
projected top speed was 160 mph. the Excalibur was not for the faint
hearted.
This 1978. Series III has the six litre V 8 engine and was
imported into the UK from the USA in 2006 where it was then used as
a wedding car before being purchased by its current owner. Offered
in pure white with striking chrome work and biscuit leather
interior. this example also offers the original high back seats
which were originally removed for its use as a wedding car and full
wet weather running gear including hard top. This is ahead turning
example which also has its original Indiana certificate of title
along with old Mo T test certificates and a valid V 5 registration
