Launched at the International Motor Show. Birmingham in October
1988. the sensational newcomer re-stated its Aston Martin V 8
forerunner's brawny looks in the modern idiom. contriving to be
slightly narrower yet providing increased interior space. The car
was still no lightweight but with 330 bhp on tap courtesy of the
trusty V 8 engine's new 32-valve top end. was good enough for a top
speed approaching 160 mph and a 0-60 mph time of under seven
seconds.
After spearheading the Aston Martin V 8's transformation for the
1990 s. the Virage name was dropped during 1994. its place as the
'standard' model being taken by a Vantage-style V 8 Coupé.
Introduced at the Geneva Salon in March 1996. the new V 8 Coupé
adopted all of the Vantage's muscular styling cues but retained the
normally aspirated. 5. 3-litre engine of the Virage and delivered
similar performance. The model formed part of the Aston Martin
range for just three years and is one of the rarer members of the
modern V 8 family.
One of the last of the fabulous. hand-built V 8 Coupe's to be
made this outstanding example is everything you would expect from
the 'quintessentially British' motoring legend that is Aston
Martin. This 1997 V 8 Coupé was first registered AM V 8 and was used
as the Aston Martin factory press and test car before being sold
into private hands later that year and registered with the current
registration number. The car is finished in Rolls-Royce Royal Blue
with parchment leather seats piped in dark blue. blue carpets edged
in dark blue and parchment headlining. With only 35. 00 miles on
the odometer. it comes supplied with a V 5 C registration document. br/>an Mo T test certificate which expires in August 2015. the original
owners guide and old Mot test certificates. This is a very good
example of a modern classic that will become a much sort after
model due to its rarity.
