The Volkswagen T 25 transporter. first built in August 1979 and
also known as the T 3 and the Vanagon. was a huge success and a
radical jump forward in the evolution from splitscreen and bay
window campers to modern Transporters. It was also the last
rear-engined classic VW and bridges the gap between classic
air-cooled. rear-engined vehicles and modern water-cooled. br/>front-engined cars and vans for VW. This makes the T 25 particularly
interesting as it marked the end of the classic era for VW. This
particular van is a quite exceptional example in many ways. A 1986
lefthand drive model. it has spent all its life inside a rural fire
station in northern Germany being more polished than driven and. as
such. it remains in time-warp condition. While other vans of this
vintage will usually have rusted quite badly. this one is very
solid and rust-free. It is still equipped with all the ancillaries
a fire van needs including rooftop indicators. sirens. tannoy. br/>megaphone and blue lights.

It is fitted with a powerful 1. 6 diesel engine and is a
nine-seater vehicle so great for even the largest of families. The
vendor purchased the van directly from the fire brigade who were
the only previous owners. Remaining in active service until
2012. it always had to be ready for any emergency and. as you would
expect from a fire van. it has been regularly serviced regardless
of cost. In totally original and rust-free condition. it is
described as being "fun to drive" and a real eye-catcher whilst
also being quite spacious. Supplied with a V 5 registration document
and a current Mo T test certificate valid until March 2015. it is
ready to drive away today although the emergency lights. which are
easily removed and are shown here for photographic purposes only.
Offering the versatility of converting into a camper van or keeping
as it is. this will prove popular on the thriving VW show
circuit.
